Retired U.S. Senator Tom Coburn is not happy about being misquoted by bombastic billionaire and reality TV actor Donald Trump in the real estate mogul’s latest attempt to perform character assassination against constitutional conservative presidential candidate Ted Cruz.
As part of the onslaught of baseless personal attacks against Cruz, Trump retweeted quotes supposedly attributed to the former Oklahoma senator.
The quote attributed to Tom Coburn, which called Cruz “one of the most dishonest people in DC,” was never spoken or written by him, according to the former senator in a phone interview with the Washington Examiner.
Instead, Coburn called the quote an “absolute fabrication,” in other words, an outright lie.
“It’s an absolute fabrication. I’ve never said that, period,” Coburn told the Examiner. “It’s unfortunate he would use my name to say something dishonest. It’s a total fabrication.”
According to the Examiner, the actual quote came from a leftist loon at a far-left website that had attempted to smear Cruz in the same way that Trump is:
Trump retweeted his social media director Dan Scavino, in turn quoting Coburn talking about the Texas senator. “He is, without a doubt, one of the most dishonest people in D.C.,” read the quote Scavino attributed to Coburn. However, the quote appears to come directly from progressive website ForwardProgressives.com and writer Allen Clifton, who used the exact language to describe Cruz.
While the tweet was taken down by Trump, we were able to retrieve the above screenshots via Politwoops, which publishes deleted tweets from major U.S. politicians.
Some are already calling for Trump to apologize to both Coburn and Cruz, although it is highly unlikely that Trump, the only Christian in world history to have never asked God for forgiveness of his sins, will admit fault.

Even though the tweet was deleted, Trump continued to use the phony quote to smear Cruz, later on the campaign trail, as reported and caught on video by The Right Scoop.
This is what âutter defeatâ looks like... to put it in real terms, of none other than Ted Cruzâ favorite phrase. lol.

Yep!
I’ll wager if you did a search of the FR threads, you’d find that Cruz supporters post far more anti-Trump pieces, than pro-Cruz threads. Bitter, bitter, little, snobs.
And on all of those pro-Cruz threads, you’ll find nothing but Trump supporters trolling. Look in a mirror sometime, you might clean yourself of all those pimples.
When you’re wrong, you’re wrong.
But, as far as Coburn, I care nothing about anyone who loves Nancy Pelosi.
Sen. Coburn: Cruzâs Ploy Was Dishonest
What? What does this have to do with The Drumph lie??? Cruz was saying you could cut off the money to Obama care. Not put it in the Budget.. But all the Republicans in the Senate are afraid of Zero who would shut down the government.. Shutting down the Government is a good thing don’t you think?
Donald Trump is the scum of the earth. What a vile, slimy creature.
