Guess he doesn't realize people don't particularly like his mother either.
I was kinduv surprised over the years to learn from friends and acquaintances that they (men and women) had come to distrust her somewhere along the way and aren't really sure why.

had come to distrust her That whole 'mama doesn't want me to run' deal was quickly recognized as an obvious ploy to the observant. The Bushes knew going in that it would be an uphill battle to win without the base; so Barbara was chosen to speak for the electorate, saying no more Bushes, so that when she 'changed her mind', the hope was that she could bring the voters with her, back to supporting Jebito. Didn't work; she lost credibility.
