And Donald Trump thinks this is a great plan that government will pay for.

Why does anyone think they get a free lunch?

Cause they attend a public school where somebody serves them a free lunch every day for twelve years?

No its not, the government can only go after what they spent on you during your life.. if you have 100k in assets and they spent 25k on your health care, they can only extract 25k from the estate, the remainder goes to your heirs... in most states, they don’t even come after an estate until both parties have passed, IE your wife has cancer, you are on medicaid, she dies, you live another 20 years... they won’t come for reimbursment until after you both have passed.

You are basically borrowing against your estate, if you have anything when you both are gone, to get health care today.... Why would you or anyone else expect a free lunch?

In my state (WA), the state attempts to recover ONLY long-term (in-facility) care costs, not the value of all the assorted Medicaid claims or the premium costs.

If Bernie Sanders gets the WH, just see how much free stuff he’ll be giving away.

I think that there are some liberals who are hoping to transition directly from their third useless college degree into a comfy retirement when mom and dad croak and leave behind the savings they were "hoarding". They have not thought through the impact on their dreams Bernie would have.

I am not confusing Medicaid with Medicare, I have been quite explicit on what it is and how it works.

My state went for Medicaid Expansion yet the state exempted costs incurred under e-Medicaid from any future estate recovery efforts. A handful of other states did as well.

I guess California is different than most states regarding estate recovery. I’ve also read stories about how evil California’s revenue service is.

They are going to lose their bleeding heart reputation.

“Medicare is government health care for the poor and indigent...”

That is Medicaid.

Medicare is for people 65 and over it is paid for with payroll deductions made before age 65. There is also Medicare Part B which if you want you have to pay the premiums every month.

Or the rest of the liberal thinking masses. Just look to Venezuela to see what could happen here. That government took over all farming and manufacturing control the consequence being no food in stores and when there is, lines blocks long and wait times of hours. Very reminiscent of the old USSR.

Thank you...good to know.

Our newer governor has been stonewalling last year’s budget and has proposed a new one..both demanding huge tax icreases. If Medicaid extension is proposed for this state, I will be vigilant looking for those exempted costs. I’m so disgusted here in Pa. I could spit.

What if Scott Killerud sells his property, moves to Texas and buys property? Can Minnesota still enforce a property lien against him for medical care?

Hmmm?

Medicaid Expansion doesn’t really cost the state that much because the federal government pays such a high proportion of the costs (from federal tax receipts; borrowed money; created money).

When our mother went to a nursing home, a Medicaid expert told my brother & I that Medicaid will confiscate every dime of her estate. Only in rare instances would she be allowed to keep her home & car.

Texas has it on MedicAid benefits, some if not all. This hits hardest on folks who qualify for MedicAid assistance like in home care or nursing home care—but who still own their homes as an asset.

Bend over, people, here comes your "free" healthcare insurance. Obozo promised your insurance rates wouldn't increase. Now we find out he not only lied about that, he's going to manage to screw us again after we die!

Now you know why birth control is "free".

All those millionaires and billionaires (aka "politicians") are stealing the people's money and they don't even know it.

But now some of them in Minnesocialist know it.
