It bothered me more when Rubio and Cruz said things that sounded like Mexicans. It was in some foreign language. You know, the language of the nations people they are both so eager to stop from coming in.
I understand Bush speaks it at home.
No, not at all about Cruz. Cruz only spoke Spanish at the debate to prove that Rubio was a liar.
If Rubio had asked me the question, I could have answered it in Spanish. I learned it the old fashioned way, in high school back when you had to actually learn the language to pass. With enough forethought, I might have been able to answer it in Japanese. I’m sure that there are many here who can assert similarly in non-English languages.
I don’t care how many languages a candidate can or cannot speak, as long as s/he thinks in American.
That was ok. Rubio had accused him of being an Hispanic that doesn’t speak Spanish, kind of like calling him an oreo, and he had to say something in Spanish to prove he could. He said “dude, tell it to them in Spanish if you want, go ahead.” (I found out the next day). Kind of funny. Cubans get very exercised. You could probably get the two of them to fistfight if you goaded them right.

Yes, I found that disgusting. Rubio mocked Cruz for not speaking Spanish - in the US! As if it was our official language! Then Cruz had to show he could speak it.
My mother came here from Italy and didn’t teach us Italian, because she came here to be AMERICAN. And so were we!
