I remember when free republic was a place where if somebody stood up on stage and screamed “Bush lied us into war” we would’ve recognized that person is a liberal idiot. Now we pretend he’s the savior of the conservative movement.
This is some bad stuff on Trump’s part. I have to concede, he’s not a traditional conservative.
That said, I have to favor his Second Amendment and Immigration stances.
It’s a perplexing place for me. I don’t quite know what to make of it all.
People woke from the Con.
So if Trump doesn’t get the nomination, whoever does is planning on running a campaign that defends the war in Iraq as a good thing we should do again if given the option? That doesn’t exactly sound like a winning general election strategy, and if one of the other GOPe candidates who’s bashing Trump for not sticking to the neocon RNC talking points manages to win the nomination, it’s going to come up in the general election over and over and over again.
Hope if that happens we can all survive a Bernie administration, because sticking with the failed Bush Doctrine is how we ended up with 8 years of Obama.
They’re still idiots.
I'm not the biggest Trump supporter here (I still like Ted Cruz more) but I'd vote for him in a heartbeat over the alternative on the other side. I also believe that being an outsider or a non-establishment republican does NOT in any way make you by default a "conservative". After all, it is possible to be a none GOPe candiadate because of standing far to the left of anything the GOP would support (although that seems to be getting more and more impossible with time)
I think ,not Donald Trump or not even a real conservative is to blame, but George W Bush himself bears much of the blame for the "Bush lied about Iraq" attacks and all the other attacks.
More than a decade has gone by with unanswered daily attacks against the man from the left, from the "mistake of going into Iraq" to "the worst economy since Hoover".
Bush had NEVER responded to the criticism coming from the left and not even that coming from our president President.
Worse! He has publically agreed with them...
George Bush, in a moment of reflection ahead of his departure from the White House, last night admitted that the decision to go to war against Saddam Hussein on the basis of flawed intelligence was the biggest regret of his presidency. The acknowledgment marks the first time that Bush has publicly expressed doubts about his rationale for going to war on Iraq.
George W Bush told ABC News which aired in December 2008, he said that despite briefings in early 2001 warning that Al Qaeda was prepared to attack, "I think I was unprepared for war" when terrorists struck the United States on 9/11.
Isn't it remarkable that it took the criticism of a non-establishment republican to actually get George W Bush to respond after nearly a decade of unanswered attacks from the left, from Hillary, and from Obama?
Bush threw us and anybody who stood behind him UNDER THE BUS long ago.
Bush? You mean the guy who had to abandon the free market to save it? Bush? The stimulus check guy? The guy who created a prescription drug social program? The No Child Left Behind guy? The guy who got us mired in idiotic and expensive wars that we are STILL feeling the ramifications of? THAT Bush?
As far as I’m concerned, I’m done defending him. Does anyone really think the Iraq war was NOT a mistake a this point?
I don’t care what ‘arguments of the left’ Trump uses against him. I went out on a limb to support Bush and he slapped me in the face. To hell with him and the rest of his inbred, drug-smuggling, family.
Insanity has taken hold here. I am beside myself that figure heads like Rush and Beck and Levin are now being called all sorts of names and considered basically “the enemy” because they don’t support Trump.
Just amazed. All rational thought has gone out the window, when Trump came on scene.
It’s the perspective of seeing where the Iraq war went and what it’s created in its aftermath and knowing there were no WMDs on the scale or production we were led to believe and the integrity to admit we were wrong Trump or no Trump
I was wrong about the Iraq war and this forum was wrong to scream for zots of anyone disagree with Bush
Or later Sarah Palin
And if they had their way now.....Ted Cruz
It’s how Freepers are ......vindictive
