Trump is a populist, not a conservative. That’s the same mold as former Texas Governor Rick Perry, William Jennings Bryan, etc.
If Trump had accompanied Beck to the border to throw a foreign invader welcoming party, complete with free soccer balls and teddy bears, would that bother you?
It seems you are the one hoodwinked, caterwalling about deeds. Bush, Rubio, Cruz, Kasich have highly limited lists of successful deeds while Trump’s could hardly be listed. They’re professional government types with only a few years between them outside cushy tax payer financed sinecures.
America has been very, very, very good to me. I want my grandchildren to taste the same wine of economic and political freedom I savored. The nation used to be ruled from the middle out. Now its ruled from the edges inward. The four above aim to satisfy their benefactors at the extreme edge, setting an agenda to benefit at most, two million people.
Assuming you are a Cruzer you should evaluate what he knows about and doesn’t. What Cruz knows about business and economics and negotiation would fit inside a thimble. And he’s by miles the smartest of the four. He’s incapable of stopping the slide toward Venezuela, the others would actually likely hasten it. The citizenry, those that pay in and take nothing out, understand this even if they can’t articulate it. They don’t give a rip about Edmund Burke or Margaret Thatcher, all they care about is that the America they knew doesn’t disappear forever.
They inherently know that Weekly Standard, NRO, WSJ conservativism is the Road to Serfdom even though 95% of them don’t even know who Hayek is. The American economy is a train wreck because of too much government, too much taxation, too much regulation, too much open borders, too much fifth column trade policy, too much interest group rights and uber privileges.
We’re in the process of a campaign, lets vote fair and square. You and your friends can keep trying to tear down with baloney bullsh$t the most pro-American presidential candidate since George Washington and perhaps you will succeed. But remember when you get a completely witless government and bureaucracy and they can’t do anything right, can’t fire guys for watching porn at work, can;t keep vets from dying for lack of medical care, give pro-life lip service while accomplishing nothing, it’s what you wanted. Frankly people are confused, we haven't got a clue how he will accomplish the things he has promised. How will he govern? Will it be like the acerbic TV show host or the screaming maniac we saw at the last debate.

Trump is a panderer, a populist has the same opinion on an issue whether people follow him or not... Trump by his own admission has evolved on many... including abortion so someone can go from infanticide to pro life ? Give me a break...
I really have to question the quality of his answers. Oh, I know that things will be fabulous, America will start winning again, all the illegals will go home in the hope that they are selected to return and become citizens, the Mexican financed wall will be the best wall and America will be great again. Let me look in a mirror and practice for a while and I can answer in glittering generalities too.
What makes answers most people would reject from a politician palatable when given by a businessman/TV personality?
Love them all, but the first one is my favorite!
That's certainly a unique definition that's not grounded in reality.
The general election campaign is obviously going to require more detailed answers. But for now most people realize that Trump is new at this and that the answers from professional politicians upon being voted into office are rarely more reliable.
Besides, he has promised to adopt a very different tone and demeanor as president. I’d love to see him back to this 1991 businessman style.
