I do a lot of walking along with reasonable weight lifting. Actually one doesn’t need lots of weight to tone up. Walking is great exercise and less stressful on the knees than running. So I stay fit with what I call a fairly lightweight exercises 3 times a week. I should do more but something is better than nothing.

All true.

One thing: you CANNOT "tone" muscle. It became a euphemism in the 1980's because women did NOT want to hear the truth. Muscles can only be strengthened or stretched...not TONED.
Women, however, bought into that stupidity 100%. Stupid women. I am a woman and KNEW that it was STUPID to say that one's muscle could be TONED. STUPID, stupid, stupid.
Women STUPIDLY thought that if they lifted three ounces a month they would look like Governator Schwarzenegger. DUMB.

TONE has ONLY to do with color and music/sound. NOT with muscle.

Thangew.

Ok. Maybe so. All I know is after a shoulder injury I cut back on the amount of weights a bit and still have been able to maintain what I have. Maybe a slight growth.
