That was yellowcake, uranium oxide. It is 99+ percent U-238. U-235 is what is used in bombs.

In other words, that's the stuff used in brewing Labatt's beer and making pies.........Thanks, I can see now why Canada would want to purchase it and why it would have been secretly shipped out of Iraq to Canada by the U.S.

It’s a very long process to go from yellow cake to bomb grade uranium. Over 99% of the uranium in yellow cake is U-238, which isn’t what is needed. A bomb requires U-235.

In order to process it you need a gas diffusion separator like we used in WWII or banks of centrifuges like Iran is currently using. Iraq had neither.

Canada took the yellow cake because their CANDU reactors work just fine with the very low .07% levels of U-235 found in natural uranium.
