I once sat next to a couple having dinner while their verbigeration with the word “like” ran amok, and that is not even the right word. As I was leaving, and they were one seat next to me, I repeated “like” time and time again as they looked at me and were ready to assault me. It was wonderful knowing they got the message.
It was around 1989-90 when “Like” became huge.
