Look at it this way. In a baseball game, after a home run, the pitcher on team 1 beans the next batter. So the players on Team 2 tell their pitcher that he must bean on of the Team 1 batters next inning. The first batter up next inning has a pitch thrown right at his head. He is able to duck at the last second to avoid getting hit.

The point here is that the pitcher's teammates were able to convince him to hit the first batter he faced. Did the batter get hit? No. But he damn well tried.
