Cruz is no stranger when it comes to benefitting from eminent domain.
He promised to stand with TX citizens against eminent domain when a foreign company wanted to build a pipeline. It was to transport tar sands oil to be refined at two Texas refineries and sold overseas to increase foreign profits. He didn’t stand up for the citizens.
Ted also supports eminent domain for the Keystone Pipeline that a private company is building. Oil is subsidized and has been for years. Cruz has at least $365,000 in oil/gas company investments and at least $50,000 of that is in Plains GP Holdings, a company that transports oil and gas liquids.
And he stands to make money on Keystone. He’s received $25 million in oil super pac money and over $952,000 in oil campaign contributions.
Oil is subsidized? That is a very liberal talking point. Do you know what they mean by that? They have a miner’s version of the depreciation expense. To call that a subsidy is very misleading, it sounds as though they are being given money directly from the taxpayers.
Since, apparently, we both do not understand the doctrine of eminent domain and what is regarded as a “public use,” I’ll make you a deal. I won’t go to any casinos, and you will stop using petroleum products.
