Dense read, not for the layman, but a governor of Nebraska was once temporarily unseated (on paper anyway) for not being a citizen. And get this, he was born in the US!

North Dakota governor Thomas Moodie was removed from office because he was ineligible per the state constitution. Moodie had not been domiciled in North Dakota for the requisite time.
