As the bruising Republican primary fight moves south, the rivalry between Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio is nearing a turning point.
Rubio's advisers see South Carolina as something close to make-or-break after a disastrous fifth-place showing in the New Hampshire deeply wounded his candidacy. Bush, whose campaign has found new life in recent days, is trying to notch his second consecutive victory over Rubio - something his team hopes would sideline his rival as competition in the center-right lane.
Indeed, while Donald Trump and Ted Cruz duel for first, the battle between these Floridians has become a primary of its own, with the loser likely to face significant pressure from donors to plot an exit from the race, according to sources close to both men.

The best thing for Trump would be these 2 bozos finishing SC in a tie.
It’s fun to watch the anti-Trumps fight for the crumbs, and watch them celebrate when they get a few more crumbs than the next anti-Trump.
Matter of fact, I think that we should stop calling them by name, just call the anti-Trump 1, anti-Trump 2, anti-Trump 3, and anti-Trump 4. Most of them are so pathetic that they don’t deserve names.
The Cheap Labor Express started this campaign with 15 candidates.
They are down to Yeb!, the Joyful Tippy-toes Tortoise
Mario Rubco, The Memorizer Bunny
John Kasuck, the Democrat in an R jersey from Ohio
None of those guys are going to get elected.
We have a real chance at keeping our country.
Wow....I actually want Rubio on this one, and Rubio is dead to me. :)
When Jeb Bush loses the nomination, I want Congress to pass a law that he can never run again. Obama would sign that.
Yes. We really need Jeb to place 4th in South Carolina.
I would like to see him place lower than that! He needs to be out......now way can he be the nominee and I don’t trust the gope not playing dirty.
I like him staying in, wasting more hundreds of millions of Cheap Labor Express PAC dollars. Every dollar they waste is a dollar well spent. I hope Bush hangs on until the bitter end.
It would be funny if it weren’t so scary. The liberals always vote for any Democrat. They would vote for Godzilla if he were running as a Dem. Meanwhile, Republicans have what the Dems rant about all the time: diversity. Some of that diversity needs to go away, especially Jeb with his 117 million PAC hit/smear machine. But whoever emerges, we should do what they always do and vote for whatever candidate emerges. Otherwise, we will see a Hillary in the White House, renting out the Lincoln bedroom again, and two or more liberals on the Supreme Court. After that, nothing will matter. So, in essence, this election could be our last meaningful one if we lose. In the primaries, it is good that unlike the Dems, whose attempt at a coronation has hit a snag, the Republicans can weed out candidates and let the people decide. I, for one, will go with whoever the choice is. If it is Jeb, which it won’t be (another attempt at a coronation), I’ll just move to another country where there is no attempt at fair elections. Mexico?
You have a point.
between the two, I’d take Rubio. And I readily admit Bush was a good governor. Just tired of the Bush name.
I would LOVE this scenario
Trump
Carson
Cruz
Rubio
Kasik
Bush

Bush probably was a decent governor but for goodness sake he finished in 2002.......why the heck is nobody pointing this out. The country is WAY different then 2002. Our candidates can be stupid when dealing with strategy.
I think Bush’s “OpChaos” strategy is dead now that Burney is giving Hillary a run for the money on the D side.
With no Dems crossing over, he’s basically a low single digit guy.
That is true. It is good for us that the Democrats have a race in SC since it is an open state. The Dems will never cross over with their race so tight.
Jeb’s people had a good plan.
But it was predicated on Hillary coasting to victory.
And of course they never figured Trump would be such a strong candidate.
