Thank you for your eloquent answer. I don’t think Trump is my guy but I am truly without a candidate at this point so I suppose he could be. If he wasn’t so petulant, I would be more easily swayed. But that’s just me.

I've been without a candidate too, many times. I leave the ballot blank for that slot. Usually, my vote is meaningless, being a conservative in a liberal-controlled regime, so I can get away with effectively not participating.

I also have a point of view that the vote is mostly a tool to keep the masses from getting restive. When both parties are "in it together," the outcome of the vote doesn't affect the people, it only determines which elites get the better perks.
