I replaced a micro wave oven that I inherited that was built in the USA in the 1980s. It finally died two years ago. Since then I have had to replace my Japan built(Chinese parts) micro wave twice.

I saw something a few months ago about how a lot of supermarkets in Europe (and probably here as well) are getting much of the fish they sell, from China. The problem is, they soak the fish in some kind of saline liquid. The fish absorb it and it increases the weight by 30%-40%. So you buy a 2 pound filet, take it home and cook it, and it shrivels up to about a pound.

China is a huge abuser with this kind of thing. They ignore intellectual property rights when it suits their interests, and flood this country with counterfeit products of all kinds - electronics, perfume and cologne ,clothes. You name it.

A friend of mine sold legitimate perfume at a local flea market. He had a thriving business. He was able to sell competitively with the department stores because of his lower costs. About ten years ago, people started popping up selling fake Chinese imports. The packaging looks almost identical to the real thing, and they sold it for a fraction of what he was charging for the real stuff. He finally had to close up because he refused to rip people off by selling the fake stuff.

And the fake stuff is lower quality. Don’t kid yourself. You spray it on and it lasts about 5 minutes and goes away. It doesn’t even smell like the real stuff but can fool the uninitiated who don’t know and are just looking for a good deal on a gift for their wife or girlfriend or whatever. The stuff also goes bad after a few months. Goes rancid.
