The original Roots cast included a pantheon of old and budding stars:
Ben Vereen, Louis Gossett, Jr., LeVar Burton, Chuck Conners, John Amos, Vic Morrow, Lorne Greene, Scatman Crothers, George Hamilton, Lloyd Bridges,Doug McClure, O.J. Simpson (ha!), Burl Ives, and James Earl Jones.
The remake fails in cast comparison.

“... found their way into his book,...” Geez. I don’t know how those words got there.

Author Alex Haley made up his original story, “Roots”. He was a fraud. That this fraudulent novel was made into a movie is bad enough, but to remake it! The first movie was a dog, so how do you improve on that?

LOL! So you don’t think there will be any trans-race actors taking any of the rolls then?

I understand why they feel the need to remake stuff. But in the case of Roots—the US virtually came to a stop that week. How are they going to top that?

You know, all of the words are right there on the keyboard. Its the order of the letters that is going to get you in trouble.

In the original miniseries - I think the part two miniseries of Roots that took place in modern times Alex Haley’s family were shown to be Republicans for the first half of the 20th century. If they go that far into the future I hope the expand that part of the family’s history.

Female full-frontal nudity, and LOTS of expensive special effects.

Well there should be some "mixed bloods" (toned it down again) for sure because the masters paid a many a visits to the shacks.
Also, the mistresses of the house were no saints and partook of the staff, I mean field workers.

All the T&A in the world ain't gonna make this turkey movie remake fly. I'll bet it goes right from completion to DVD and skips distribuition (or maybe limited distribution in large urban areas). Oh, well, let the Negroes have their fantasies of the joys of African civilization and the myths of slavery.
