The rocker’s latest vile campaign targets Jews, but it hurts Second Amendment supporters most
Mark Twain, who knew a thing or two about idiots, famously warned his readers not to argue with fools; do that, he quipped, and onlookers may not be able to tell the difference. So it's with much trepidation that I'm addressing Ted Nugent's latest outrage: having previously written a song that advocated handcuffing and raping underage girls, and having allegedly put his passion for prepubescence into practice by engaging in sexual conduct with a twelve-year-old--illegal, immoral, inconceivable to any conscientious human being--the degenerate rocker posted anti-Semitic drivel on his Facebook page earlier this week, accusing twelve prominent Jews of being "nazi gungrabbers" and overall traitors to the American project of life, liberty, and the pursuit of firearms.

Now, I love guns. I am a proud and enthusiastic member of the National Rifle Association. I believe every man, woman, and child--particularly those who happen to be Jewish--should be well-armed and well-trained. I am about as rigid an advocate of the Second Amendment as one can get, and I have no particular political love for the twelve officials and activists named by Nugent. And it's because I hold these views that I feel very comfortable saying that Ted Nugent isn't just a disgraceful human being (which is self-evident) and anti-Semitic scum (which should be obvious by his decision to refer to Michael Bloomberg as "the mayor of Jew York City" and an Israeli agent who helped orchestrate 9/11) but also a real shande to anyone seriously committed to the right to bear arms.
The liberal caricatures aside, most of us gun enthusiasts are reasonable, responsible people, and many of us see owning a firearm as both an expression and a protection of our liberty. The freedom we wish to defend is the freedom to live safely and with dignity without undue harassment. When a bigoted buffoon like Nugent makes his incendiary statements, he's not only embodying the vilest stereotypes used to marginalize pro-gun arguments but also undermining the very foundation of the pro-gun argument itself.
Nevermind. This is America. When hateful pricks like Nugent rise using poisonous propaganda, at least we'll be able to arm and defend ourselves.

Huh? Many supporters of gun rights (Christians and Jews, as well as people of no religion, and conservatives and libertarians alike) object to both the bigotry itself and to the way Nugent's obnoxious posting will be used to marginalize gun-rights supporters as bigots.
When I look at the photograph I do not think of it as an inclusive all sectors picture, I see a very limited, progessives only group.
Give me a break. He asked who was behind gun control, and the answer was a list of people identified specifically as Jews. The clear implication is that the answer to the question "Who is really behind gun control" is the Jews.
Why didn't he include any non-Jews in his list? Where are Hillary and Bill Clinton, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Martin O'Malley, Rudy Giuliani, Michael Moore, Jimmy Carter, etc.?
And why did he even mention that the people on his list are Jews? What is the relevance of that? (He didn't just mention that they are Jews, he emphasized that fact.)
Do you people have a victim trait that jumps out and says , "Me too, me too" whenever you see the word Jews in print?

The fact that the REverand Al Shaprton, who led the only pogrom in US history, is a revered king maker in the Democrat party is ignored or wished away with cognitive dissonance. That is when leftist Jews give a damn about dead Jews. All too often they look at the Chassidim killed at Crown Heights and smugly say "they aren't our kind of Jews."

The left has always hated the constitution. The first and second amendments are their greatest enemy between them and Utopia.
I’m glad Jews and their friends are yapping back at Nugent for being an idiot. I have joined the chorus. But what he does says nothing about our second amendment and the two are not be connected in any way.

Johns Hopkins University is another constant source of "statements" (many of them non-sequiturs) supportive of gun-grabbing. Johns Hopkins has had a long-running relationship with the Brady Campaign/Handgun Control Inc. under which Hopkins sifts data and then offers up lists of bromides which they say are data-backed, for use in political argument.
Now I understand better why a GOP Congess interposed and restricted CDC from doing political propaganda for people working to invade the Bill of Rights. I'm sure it would be the same if CDC were working for The Campaign to Eliminate Jury Trials or the Movement to Quarter Troops in Private Homes, but this time it's the grabbers who got gored, and they've been squealing ever since about Congress's "beating up" on the CDC.
So what is your remedy for Nugent's displeasing, even offensive, conduct and speech? What do you want to see happen to him? I assume that, once the accusation of antisemitism is levelled against someone, he's guilty of it, and the issue turns to "what shall be done with this person?" I'm sure B'nai B'rith is already there in Nugent's case, based on your complaint (which is all fresh news to me).
Unemployment? Pariahdom? Destitution? Homelessness? Name your poison.
You might show us how your punishment of Nugent would correlate with that doled out to artists Robert Mapplethorpe and Andres Serrano ("Piss Christ" was a classic).
Mind you, Nugent is a person of whom I had a generally favorable opinion, until you decided I had to change it. So tell us what you want.
But please show me, if you don't mind, how you would apply proportionate measures to larger public malefactors like Al Sharpton and Louis Farrakhan, Jesse Jackson and William Ayers. People who are doing real damage to society and to public and private property by advocating riot and revolution.
That poster of alleged Jewish gun-grabbers is screwed up in at least one instance -- setting aside arguendo its provenience and what Nugent meant by putting it up on his own website.
Alan Dershowitz is not an enemy of 2A as asserted. Rather, he and Laurence Tribe pointed out early in the rejoined 2A debate 25 years ago that 2A says what the gun-rights people said it did, and that the Miller opinion was wrong to attempt to restrict "gun rights" to the organized Militia.
Both of them (Tribe being then the dean of Harvard Law) told the grabbers that, like it or not, 2A does guarantee an individual right, and that consequences would flow from that realization whenever the Supreme Court took up a 2A case (something the Court had diligently avoided since 1939).
Whether Dershowitz is also an "Israel firster" is completely irrelevant. But he is not a gun-grabber.
It is interesting you have a generally favorable opinion of Ted. As I've acknowledged on the other threads, I didn't, largely based on his aggressive dodging of the draft and his position on underage women, girls actually, through his music and alleged misconduct. I don't admire that, I'd be surprised if you do.
As to his current issue, as you'll note on his Facebook page, there are plenty of supporters of his neo Nazi crap.
Jews are responsible for gun control, apparently solely. No Chistians support gun control. OK, there are conspiracy nuts who buy into that thing. The Czar's secret police did, as did the Reich. He's entitled to say it, I'm entitled to categorize it as neonazi crap, you can support it if you please. Bloomberg is an Israeli agent, on of what I presume were plenty of unknown Israeli agents who perpetrated the 9/11 attacke. That's not worthy of a favorable opinion outside the hate community and Islamists. Jews slaughtered in the Holocaust were soulless sheep. OK, there are people who think Jews have no souls, again the aforementioned hate and Islamist communities. They're the spawn of the devil after all in those circles. How about the Christians? The slaughtered ones, there were a few, did they have souls?
Mapplethorpe and Serrano deserve the same derision Nugent deserves, three bigots. Sharpton deserves special credit for fomenting the only pogrom in America. Some would say second by including the Harlem riots of the 30s, but those were directed at whites in general as well as Jews, no matter, though he incited violence he did it in a legal manner. I'm not qualified to assess the legal complications in his life. Or Jackson's, I'm not a lawyer. I don't much like public figures having children out of wedlock, but not much of an issue anymoe and Ted fit's that bill too. Ayers beat the system, though I'd like to see the case advocated by the San Francisco police union pursued. All bad people imo, including Farrakhan and Ayer's wife. The latter four certainly worse than Nugent.

I do think politicians and groups like the NRA need to assess whether or not they want his support, or in the case of Ted Cruz continue to trumpet his support. Groups like the GOA and JPFO have rejected his commentary, the NRA seems silent.
I never heard about any of that. Not a whisper. Not until now. And neither did anyone else who's appeared with the Nuge and done fundraisers or political rallies with him, either. Like Sarah -- I realize she is loathed by Jews generally for cultural reasons (Commentary online, 1/2010, also Frum, also Gawker, also jewschool.com, all that same month), but I don't think she'd have been running around with a serial nymph-ravisher and draft-dodger (while her son was in the 25th Infantry Division) if a) it were true and b) everybody in politics knew it.

I'm sorry you don't know his background. You can easily find it all. And it's been used for years by people on the left to demean gun owners.
In a High Times article, 72 I believe, he detailed morphing into a filthy individual of questionable value by not bathing for a month, eating poorly and snorting crystal meth and smearing himself with his feces and urine. You can easily find the article. Later he recanted, claimed he was just raising hell, and the he just got a student deferment, then a 1Y when he went for his physical. Had some not very nice things to say about the military, but forget that, if his second explanation is true, he's no different than Rush Limbaugh and many others. Other than claiming to be a veteran, based on his entertainment of the troops, which is a good thing.
Just as you can easily find the information about his in and out of wedlock children, how with the parents permission he became legal guardian of a 17 year old since they couldn't get married. That one puzzles me. And accusations by girls as young as 12. Courtney Young claims he was the first she gave oral sex to, at 12. This is old stuff. From Jailbait

That's the baggage Ted brings, if politicians and organizations want it, their choice, but imo a bad one.

Neither is Rahm, he gave up his Israeli citizenship in the allowed 6 month (I think that's the time) window before his 18th birthday, thus he was able to avoid service in the IDF. I've no problem with that, I'm sure there's something else amongst his positions I've no problem with, though it doesn't come to mind.

His post wasn't about liberal Jews. I recognize he's a rocker, but he's not illiterate. He's talking about Jews and their various conspiracies, advancing gun control and taking down the Twin Towers, that kind of stuff, nothing about cooking with childrens blood.
Can you answer a question none of his supporters appear to be willing to weigh in on. Ted says Jews slaughtered in the Holocaust were soulless sheep. Do you agree Jews have no souls? Did the Christians slaughtered in the Holocaust have no souls, or was that a Jewish thing.
Since you see the picture he posted as limited to progressives, do you think that 9/11 was only a plot of progressive Jews, not all Jews.
Myself, no I don't think I have a victim trait, you obviously do. And though Ted might well not be a antisemite just a brainless celebrity, he is promoting antisemitism, it's not about conservative Jews, or progressives, and the people who see the world in the context of Jewish conspiracies, Jewhaters, don't discriminate between me or a liberal Jew. It's not about politics, it's about hatred. Which is shared by people on the right, along with the left and Islamists.
