No! She is articulating the Dominion Doctrine that says the man can bring on the Kingdom of Heaven here on Earth. It denies that only Jesus’ Return can end Satan’s Ownership of the Earth. It embodies all of the boogeymen that secularist use to denigrate Christians by saying they want to impose their morality on everyone.
I don’t claim my tithe on my tax returns... In my mind I’m not giving my first fruits to God by doing that. I’m letting the government pay Him for me...
I would imagine this is likely the case with Senator Cruz as well.
The sugar reference was regarding Heidi. And this level of hubris by Cruzies WILL have consequences.
When I read those words in Jefferson's memorial, it's clear that Jefferson wasn't some sort of godless secularist as some folks try to misrepresent him.
No, she described the Cruz family as showing America the "face of God". Christ's face was the manifestation of God in the physical. It had nothing to do with principles, or liberty, or campaign values.
This is a post from Yashcheritsiy (You can't have a constitution without a country to go with it) on the other thread, I don't know how to create a link to it, but it was number 19:
Calling Ted Cruz "the face of God" is blasphemous. There's no "getting pretty close to" about it.
"The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee." (Numbers 6:25)
"Turn us again, O God, and cause thy face to shine; and we shall be saved." (Psalm 80:3)
"Now therefore, O our God, hear the prayer of thy servant, and his supplications, and cause thy face to shine upon thy sanctuary that is desolate, for the Lord's sake." (Daniel 9:17)
"For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ." (II Corinthians 4:6)
In the Aramaic targums, the Jews considered "the face of God" to be a synonym for the Messiah Himself.
Whether they realise it or not, these Cruz people running around saying stuff like this about Ted Cruz are themselves setting him up as an idol in the place of God.
please please please please forgive me for being so snarky with you. I just feel very strongly about this. Again, I am so sorry. No excuse, but it's been a long day.
i don't know who Elmer Gantry is, but I've seen his name before in relationship to Cruz. He must have been somethin else.
I think it would be a splendid thing for him to begin to do that, yes........
This thread is a dupe.
At least he didn’t call you Shirley.
:)

But he did claim some contributions, less than 1% for 4 years. Maybe you shouldn't equate the genuineness of your Christianity with Cruz's, though I think it speaks well of you that you do :)
According to personal tax returns released during his 2012 Senate bid, Senator Ted Cruz contributed less than 1% of his income to charity between 2006 and 2010...
I’m not going to get hung up over theological trivia.
The face of God can be taken a number of ways.
I’m just going to say it would be splendid if Ted actually started doing this in earnest. In general the face of God is benevolent, though hating sin. It doesn’t look all that Christlike a lot of the things Ted has made VERY high profile. Just the usual one sided political pablum, me win you lose etc.
I actually had to apologize to the guy because he was talking about Heidi. I was really snarky to him, not sure my apology was sufficient.
I don’t understand why he is trying so hard to look Christian. Who is he competing with in this area? Trump? Rubio? It just seems like too much.
What he and his campaign see as a winning strategy and political tool, will sink him due to the brazen self righteousness.
Nearly every Christian I've met in my life is far more humble than he.
But he's so friggin' smart, he's stupid.
Besides that’s wrong, this is the way the government lets you keep more of what you earned (in order to give it to some benevolent cause). To talk of it as if it was the government’s in the first place is exactly what the liberals want.

You said, "It doesn't look all that Christlike a lot of the things Ted has made VERY high profile.
And a lot of things he has done behind closed doors, out of sight, when the cameras weren't rolling...
"The Pharisee standing, prayed thus with himself: O God, I give thee thanks that I am not as the rest of men" (Luke 18:11)
The presumptuousness of the Cruz Crew is astounding.
The Christian model of giving is free will. The tithe equivalencing to offering to a church is not even biblical. A modern equivalent of a tithe would be something like a Christmas Club savings account where then you invited the poor to the party it funded. Not what churches have self servingly termed donations to them.
I don’t care what Ted said he donated. I’d like to see him charitable in manner.
I think he decided this long ago, though not certain where I read it. I think it is a manifestation of his messiah complex... along with his martyrhood ... who else has stood up for ... who else has fought ... he is the only One. And his father has called him the one anointed by God to bring about the end times wealth transfer. Somewhere in the midst of all those is probably the reason.
