A former Rotary President explains:
Rotary noon dinners (if this was noon) interrupt the working day of always EMPLOYED people. There is dinner, then club business followed by the featured speaker. There is a specific time limit on the length of talks as work must be foremost.
I’ve had a Police Chief, a Fire Chief and once a Cardiologist answer a pager/phone and get up and RUN out of the meeting. (Not at the same meeting)
Night Rotary dinners can and often take longer, because the work day is over.
