The Archbishop of Canterbury said yesterday that Britain must confront its historic responsibility for conflict in the Middle East. The Most Reverend Justin Welby said âour own responsibilities must be faced and acknowledgedâ and singled out Britainâs behaviour during the First World War and its aftermath. The Archbishop also pointed to the British Empire, the global trading system, American culture and even Western championing of womenâs and gay rights as factors which cause âhumiliationâ and disaffection among some Muslims.

ISIS has been inspired by Islam - just like all the other mass murdering Muslim atrocities down through centuries.
F***ing moron. There is not a shred of evidence to support this; he is just displaying his sick liberal self loathing and guilt.
F@ck him.
Because an evil, cruel, dispicable, raping, pedophile, cult leading muhammed, and his father the devil; had and has nothing to do with it.
Clearly, this archmoron is not a Christian.

The Brits made a mess of the Mideast for which they bear some responsibility, but ISIS, no. I'd look to an expansionist religion which came out of Arabia after Mohammeds death, wreaking havoc wherever they went. But colonizing everywhere they went as well
Islam is an imperialist religion. If ISIS is reacting at all to British colonialism, it’s as a rival. Ironically, it’s a rival colonialism that has produced better results than Islam. British imperialism has had only the best rebels, such as Ghandi, Adams, Jefferson and Begin. The successful revolts against British imperialism have resulted in lasting, stable democracies with great accomplishments to call their own. The Islamic Ottoman empire had a wonderful start, with plenty of promise after it overthrew the Egyptian Mamluks and staved off the Persians. But because Vasco de Gamma and Columbus found ways around their stranglehold on the Silk Road, and because their empire became unwieldy and impoverished, it began to feed on itself and weaken until Napoleon easily defeated them in 1789 (date?), and the West gradually encroached on it until the British and French successfully carved it into pieces in WW I.
British imperialism didn’t rape a bunch of poor peasants. It finally put paid to a failed empire and replaced it with something better for a while. Everyone benefited, especially the poor peasants left in the ruins of the defunct Ottoman Empire.
