In a recent YouGov survey, respondents were asked whether they had a “favorable or unfavorable opinion” of socialism and of capitalism. Below are the results of their answers, broken down by various demographic groups.

I have one daughter who is a dyed in the wool republican. I have another daughter who is conservative in her values (debt, abortion, etc) but for some reason Bernie is appealing to her.

When she was young I was a banker making a really good salary. She understands capitalism. She has benefitted from it, and she is appreciative.

But, she thinks that the chips are stacked against her and her peers. She thinks they got screwed by being told over and over (at school, not at home) that they have to go to the best colleges, keep a perfect credit score, and (in essence) be a good debt slave.

As much as I point out where her values are conservative, she just doesn’t see it.

She has been 2,000 miles away and living on her own since October. She works three jobs. And she’s never asked for money. I figure when she finishes her taxes for the first time (she freelanced all summer and she is going to owe about $1k) she will rethink her political angles a little better.

The millennials were raised in socialist institutions called public schools where they were trained in socialist behavior buttressed by a socialist curriculum. Much of that curriculum disparaged the builders of society and ignored their values.

What values are absolutely forbidden in the socialist schools? God and biblical ethics, the effect of the gospel to all of life, patriarchy, family economies, free markets unhindered by by government, competition that unequally distributes spoils, self-reliance, guns, and anything that could offend a liberal snowflake.

Sow the wind, reap the whirlwind. We have planted several generations in socialist schools, we should not be surprised when they vote for more socialism.

They don’t know any better. They have been brought up through 12 years of a progressive public school system and then 4 more years of libtard college. Its not their fault. The baby boomers fell down on the job and did not keep an eye on what was happening in the schools. Now we have an entire generation feeling the Bern. Its really a shame.

Absolutely. You see it in those “man in the street” i’views. Of course, those are selected. But you NEVER hear them say “I don’t know”....they know everything.

They cannot bear to exhibit the possibility that they are not “hip” to something. Their answers are immediate. You can tell there is no thought behind them, it’s a competition to produce the PC answer on the spot.

I think there is a language and perception gap going on here - the youth clearly are enamored with European stule socialism like found in Norway and Denmark and even in Israel (lots of American Jewish youths go to work on kibuttz farms for the summer).

Oh, I disagree.

They’ve NOT had TRUE Socialism to live under. They’ve not had to wait in line, for HOURS, for basic food stuffs, to grab the LAST of XYZ, regardless if it was needed/fit (you could always trade it later, or mod), etc.

All they know and hear is FREE. When those special-little-snow-flakes have gotten participate trophies and gold stars, all their lives, they know nothing of hard work....so FREE is the catch-all.

Course, we don’t have an education system worth a bucket of warm spit, nor any ‘news’ outlets that will contrast and compare; let alone ask any IN-DEPTH questions.
