BTW...based on your tag line, you like rifles, but you’re supporting the only candidate that has ever advocated for banning “assault rifles” (in 2012) and has ever funded anti-gun groups. That is pretty pathetic.
Donald Trump is not going to try to ban assault weapons. They are already banned. That black rifle we all own is a semi automatic tactical rifle. I have no doubt Trump’s two boys each own one or ten. :-)
Well actually in NH Trump won in excess of his expected numbers. I expect to see a repeat in SC and NV.
“I have no doubt Trumpâs two boys each own one or ten. :-)”
Maybe now, but less than 4 years ago, Trump did consider those “evil” black rifles to be assault weapons and he wanted them banned. That is ON RECORD. Hopefully, now he has changed his mind, but, of course, you would have to believe his current rhetoric since there are no facts to prove his change in that position.
You’re actually wrong again. Most polls on FR, the day of the NH primary, showed Trump winning by 21%-26% over his closest rival, but Trump did not even break a 20% spread, which means that he underperformed again. He already underperformed dramatically in Iowa. I expect the same in SC and NV too!
Well you know what growing up in NYC you don’t have much access to guns or people who have guns. My guess is Donald didn’t give it much thought until his sons got into guns and they brought Dad into it. Now Trump is CCW in NYC which I’m sure is not an easy thing to accomplish.
I was born and raised in the gun culture so it was a natural thing for me. I’m giving Trump a pass for being able to experience intellectual and philosophical growth on this issue.
“Iâm giving Trump a pass”
I hope you’re right, but if not, then we will be screwed if he ends up selecting left leaning or anti-gun justices. I need a little more proof of his conversion because anyone can say they have changed and we all know talk is cheap.
How many times does Trump have to talk about people concealed carrying so they can shoot back if a mass murderer starts up? He says it every single day. He carries now. I think the guy has had an epiphany and is a true convert and I believe Don Jr and Eric are gun guys who have walked him over the bridge.
The fact that Trump has a CCW is a straw man argument and is not very convincing. Most rich, anti-gun elites either have a CCW or have armed private security or both. Just look at Bloomberg.
“He says it every single day.”
Maybe...but Trump spent 30+ years and as recently as 2012 advocating for longer wait times and banning ARs. Trump even helped fund McAuliffe’s campaign and McAuliffe is a rabid, Bloomberg anti-gun democrat. Trump is on record in 2015 claiming that McAuliffe is a great governor. I guess someone forgot to tell Trump that McAuliffe recently lost his bid to push more anti-gun policies in Virginia and elsewhere.
Maybe Trump should actually separate himself from the anti-gun people and organizations that he previously funded rather than continue to fund and/or praise them. That would be a huge start to making people believe Trump has really changed.
Well it sounds to me like you should vote for another candidate if you have no faith in Trump. I feel that way about Cruz. No faith in the guy whatsoever.
I know. I’ve read your previous posts. I just find it odd that Trump supporters will give Trump a pass on all of his past liberal positions, many of which he still supports (i.e. subsidies, Kelo, gay marriage, etc), but Trump supporters refuse to extend that same pass privilege to any other candidate.
I won’t vote for anyone based on my faith in them because too many times that faith is betrayed. Faith in a candidate is strictly emotionally based and is not objective nor logical. I would prefer to vote based on records, histories, agendas, known tendencies, political affiliations, etc. because those are all fact based. In the fact based category, Trump is severely lacking so I won’t support him. I will vote for Cruz.
The problem is that even if Trump wins the nomination, he won’t be able to win the general election unless he convinces true conservatives that he is no longer a liberal (i.e. McCain & Romney). Unfortunately, much of what he still does and says proves otherwise (like supporting subsidies in Iowa). We need a conservative to save this country; not a left leaning populist. We already got that with Obama.
An example of what I mean...
You say Trump is now pro-gun, based solely on your faith in him and what he says. You have no proof of his new pro-gun stance, but you believe he has changed. Trump could very well start changing his tune again after he is elected, but you hope he won’t. There really is no way to know though.
I can prove to you that Trump has/does support anti-gun agendas, organizations, politicians...even recently. The proof is irrefutable, but you will take your unsubstantiated faith in Trump over the facts. You will vote for Trump even though it may be against your own best interests and your love of guns.
I just find that extremely ironic.
How consercative is expanding the H1-b visa program by 500%?
How conservative is actually voting for cloture on TPA which would give Obama carte blanche to negotiate another POS trade agreement and only 50 votes to pass it in the Senate? If you vote for cloture you might as well vote yes.
How conservative is your immigration policy when you serially repeat the phrase “we have to secure the border then have a conversation about what to do with the illegals that are here”?
How conservative or even bright is it to vote for the Corker bill which basically guts the Senate’s right to ratify treaties?
You need to quit worrying about Trumps positions and worry about Teddy’s.
“is expanding the H1-b visa program by 500%”
It is common knowledge that Cruz used that amendment for expanding the H1B visa to show the hypocrisy of the democrats and as a poison pill to the legislation. Even Rush, Levin, Hannity, Sessions all attribute the death of the amnesty bill to Cruz and his poison pill. Besides H1B visas are LEGAL immigration and not illegal immigration.
“How conservative is actually voting for cloture on TPA”
Voting for cloture is not the same thing as voting for TPA. Cruz voted against TPA, but wanted to end the endless wish lists that democrats were adding to the TPA bill. Cruz did the right thing.
Trump supported TARP, continued subsidies, the bailouts. The problem is that Trump STILL supports them. That is the difference.
“How conservative is your immigration policy”
Cruz called for the wall, electronic surveillance, and more LEOs since 2011. Cruz is ON RECORD long before Trump ever mentioned the wall. Cruz’s stance has NEVER changed.
Trump is ON RECORD advocating for amnesty and bringing Dreamers to Trump towers as a sign of support. Trump also criticized Romney as being too harsh on illegals simply because Romney supported self-deportation.
“You need to quit worrying about Trumps positions”
Actually, I think it is my duty to question Trump’s liberal positions, especially since most have not changed. Cruz has been very consistent and conservative despite Trump supporters attempting to spin the truth to suit their anti-Cruz agenda.
Cruz has also never supported gay marriage, gun bans, abortion (including partial birth abortions), but Trump has and, in some cases, still does.
I can handle a few mistakes or even a few policy changes, if properly justified, but I have a hard time believing Trump changed EVERY one of his policy positions from liberal to conservative within a few years and just in time for the election. That is too convenient. Only a fool would not question Trump and most conservatives are not fools.
