...Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), however, objected, and said he was doing so on behalf of Cruz, who has spent much of the last week campaigning in New Hampshire where he is trailing businessman Donald Trump ahead of Tuesday's primary.
Klobuchar slammed Cruz after McConnell's move, saying the Texas Republican was the only remaining hurdle to getting the ambassador nominations confirmed.
"We ask him to remove these holds. He has not voiced any concerns about these individual nominees. He voiced concerns about unrelated policy issues," she said, noting that Cruz hasn't been in the Senate to object to the nominees himself.
Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-Minn.) tried on Monday evening to get unanimous consent to confirm Samuel Heins to be ambassador to Norway and Azita Raji to be ambassador to Sweden....
******[Ted Cruz] has pledged to block State Department nominees over the Iran nuclear deal.******
Klobuchar, Sens. Jeanne Shaheen (D-N.H.) and Ben Cardin (D-Md.) have each tried to pass State Department nominations over the past week but were blocked by a senator objecting on behalf of Cruz.
Klobuchar added on Monday that she and Shaheen are planning to "come to the floor every single day and make the case for these countries."

I would fully expect the two Arizona Senators, who in no way represent me to vote for any and everything Obama. Or in this case, Valarie Jarrett.
Senator Cruz, the right man for the next President of the United States of America. Now is his time.
Nice try though Trumpanzee, now back to chimp class and learn your talking points or there will be no bananas for you
Why would he ?
At the time Roberts was nominated, he had a sterling record.
Facts don’t matter to the Trump fanboys.
“Ted Cruz came to Washington two-and-a-half years ago pledging to be the anti-senator. But heââ¬â¢s been more like the no-show senator.”.......
No matter who the senator or the congressman/woman are, a law needs to be passed that defines missing “X” number of unexcused hearings, meetings, etc. is “AUTOMATIC” resignation on the part of the individual. No exceptions. As an elected county official myself, should I miss three (3) consecutive “un-excused” meetings, it is considered an automatic resignation, why not the same for congress or senate.
Would you have? Any of us? Gee, Ted can't see into the future. Dump him.
You do realize Roberts got appointed to the Supreme Court before Cruz became a Senator, right?”
SHHH....he’s on a roll
I saw Roberts speak at a law school commencement shortly after he was appointed to SCOTUS.
He was brilliant, charismatic, witty and unfailingly conservative. He was, in a word, inspirational.
I left the ceremony reassured and grateful, grateful to Bush and, frankly, to God above.
I couldn’t for the life of me have imagined the fixer and facilitator he has become.
McConnell doesn’t like anyone standing in Obama’s way. He will wait until he finds the battle that he want’s to fight, i.e. cutting Senator’s pay.
Ted missed his calling, Broadway needs this kind of drama.
I’m surprised more haven’t seen Cruz for who he is, a Washington insider.
If Trump weren’t in this mix we’d have no choice, the donors and special interests would have a monopoly.
I seem to recall most on FR were pro Roberts as he presented himself as a conservative type, but that proved false as we have all seen.
Unless we Citizens know how each of the SCOTUS candidates stand we don’t know who to support. Some are very clearly Liberals with past rulings to prove it at the lower Federal level.
Another reason to TERM LIMIT the USSC and all federal judges to 8 yrs.
Levin's "Men In Black" discusses the corrosive effects DC has on Judges in great detail ...
Thank you for that information. And I agree, it’s his job for goodness sake! Personally, I can’t reconcile this rush to run for POTUS as a first term senator. Do the job you were hired to do first. Then again, so many have no qualms about this.
