You’re right it could be that too. They could follow it up with a “she did nothing wrong” statement and the Clintons would run with that.

I don’t see how anyone can run in place of a candidate that has won the primaries unless after the convention she is somehow physically incapable of carrying out a campaign.
the FBI had to respond to a FOIA request. It wasn’t their choice. On the other hand, the leaks for the past few months are obviously intended to show that Clinton’s excuses are without merit and to put the administration on notice.
