I just didn’t “feel it” this year. The NFL has lost me as a fan, much the same way that NASCAR has lost me too.

There are too many game rules, to many specialty rules too. And some seriously bad officials.

Totally agree. They ruined the game. I understand the importance of keeping the players safe but taking out half the players to check on concussion is overblown in my opinion.....a bit exaggerating but still. And new rules certainly ruined the game.

I started watching baseball again a few years ago, and actually look forward to April more than September. The NFL is being taken over by the PC crowd, and it just doesn’t seem the same game anymore. I just can’t get excited for the pro game now, and for the first time in years I stayed home to watch the game, and missed parts of it because I was truly bored. One of the worst played Super Bowls I’ve ever watched.

Lots of parallels with the gov't, eh?

(I just could not resist!)

Seriously, though, in either case, one of the problems is that when you get too many complex "rules", rarer is the "official" who can run the game well or properly enforce all the rules.

Given the job NFL refs are tasked with, I think they actually do pretty well, most of the time.
