Maybe he was a partier, in his younger days/previous life? He does look worse for wear. Genetics?
Most original Rubio support is evangelical pro-life conservative. They are likely to go for Cruz as he is now the viable pro-life candidate.
I myself was on the fence between Cruz and Rubio for a while before realizing Cruz was the best, despite liking Rubio better on immigration.
