I truly believe that very, very few caucus-goers who supported Carson would have been tricked into not voting for him absent Carson himself stating it. Certainly not enough to account for the 1000s he would have needed to beat Rubio for third.
That being said, it showed a distasteful lack of class, ethics and honor on the part of Cruz to willingly lie about a good man like Dr. Carson.
So in the end, it truly made zero difference to the outcome in terms of delegates, but it sullied Ted Cruz more than he and his die hards realize.
I was definitely supporting Cruz up until that rotten trick. Now, he goes into the category: I will vote for him in the general, but that is as much support as he is getting from me.
My family members who were on the fence got knocked off said fence by Cruz himself, and not onto his side. In the end, I am glad I know this early on the content of his character.
I’m starting to think Cruz and Rubio are very much alike.
Actually, they did the math on O’Reilly’s show and it Cruz only got 4 votes per district (went out to 1500) it would explain his win. As for Rubio, the whole race shifted with this vote. We’ll never know but you’re right, it was a dirty rotten trick.
