I was thinking about how life would be in December 2017 after a year with a new president. When I picture Cruz as president I see no change whatsoever from the way things are today. Not a bit. Stationery will have all new names, but otherwise it’ll be status quo. Cruz knows nothing else.
With Trump, I see a robust, happy, exciting, healthy America.
I do too but so many here don’t see that. A lot of blindness around. lol.
I like your pipe dreams... but I fear that you're very naive. Trump wants what is best for Trump on a given day. Most days, that might even be what we would love to see (kicking the media in the teeth, taking Marxism down 6 pegs, making fiery pro-USA speeches!)... but it is those days that he doesn't that I fear (his vindictiveness, his emotionalism, his mouth, his desire to "get things done" and damn the rules if we must, etc etc etc), which is why he is my second choice. There is no doubt that he is a master at handling the oppositional media, and he has an amazing knack for finding amazing people to fill important roles, and the Conservative movement desperately needs both... but his downsides are just too big to ignore.
You may very well be 100 percent correct in your first assessment, though. It is possible that nothing would change, even after electing the guy who just won by running AGAINST ethanol subsidies in IOWA... the President can only do so much with an unwilling Congress (assuming the Constitution still means anything to anyone)... but the idea that someone is winning by running against the usual "here is what I'll get for you" theme is very heartening and hopeful for me. To me, limited government is all, and only Cruz has walked the walk for 2 decades, in the face of the entire GOP establishment, and calling them out on it when they would backstab us again and again. He earned my support with 20 years of actions, not 20 weeks of good soundbites.
