I’m a Trump supporter and so far no heart attack.
Cruz’s ground game showed up.
Trump lost votes to Rubio.
Trump did well in a very evangelical state.
NH should tell us more.
And SC should tell us more.
Thanks for a sane post, much needed.
I agree especially if Iowa comes out a tie with delegates.
Trump should roll in NH. It will be interesting to see if Rubio rises big time in the aftermath of a strong finish here. May be the swan song for Kasich and Bush on day 1, mercifully. Strategically not good, though. The divided GOPe through FL was important to let Trump or Cruz get undeniable momentum.
Unfortunately, the Trump/Cruz spat is doing neither favors in the long term as someone viable was able to sneak up on both. Trump should have let Cruz win Iowa, get a strong second and then roll over Cruz in the next few states. The game may have changed drastically if Cruz wins, and especially if Trump fall to third or gets close to it. I felt all along that his ‘Cruz is nasty and an anchor baby’ attacks were ill-advised. He is now on an island, and if Cruz falters later, which is likely, those voters will migrate elsewhere.
I’m pretty happy with Trump in second place. The guy never ran for office before and he’s second in the evangelical capital of America. He’s way ahead in NH and SC. It all looks good to me.
