Cruz got my Senate vote for his Constitutional work in the 2000 Bush/Gore legal battle.... and in 2008 with Medellin v. Texas, where Cruz pushed back against Bush for invoking Powers he didn't have (under the Constitution) to invoke "foreign guidelines" (Geneva Convention, etc) to protect foreigners like ILLEGAL ALIEN (and convicted rapist/murderer) Jose Medellin.

Since that vote, I've watched Cruz during his time in the Senate, and to the best of my knowledge, he has done nothing except fulfill the promises he made to Texans. He continued to talk about the Constitution, and the balance of power/limitations it provides as a protection for Americans, which has been refreshing, since politicians usually shove such talk in to the closet once they get to Washington

So for now, it looks like I'm going to hang with the guy who has REALLY fought for this country instead of the "con men", who have good "sound bites" but have done little beyond sit on the sidelines for the last 5, 10, 15, or 20+ years.

Very well stated.

I view Cruz as a principled conservative Christian and I can’t say that about Trump.

I view Trump as an opportunistic Deal maker. He may be a very good deal maker but I’m not sure if we are going to like some of the deals.

In all reality, if or when Trump gets in the White House he will be inundated by hordes of political lawyers. Hordes of very clever and sleazy political operatives that will all be looking to make deals on behalf of their clients that don’t necessarily have Americas interests in mind. This is Ted Cruz’s world, not Trumps.

Trump made a lot of very good business deals, deals that benefited Donald Trump. I’m not in any way suggesting that Trump will be looking to benefit from a Presidency. What I am saying is that Trump doesn’t have IMHO, the Constitutional foundations for decision making that Cruz brings to the table. Never mind that I sense Trumps Christian faith is one of convenience.

As it stands right now ?

I don’t trust Trump.

I do trust Cruz.
