Trump defends donations to Clinton Foundation. Does the Donald's explanation settle the issue?

Donald Trump has come under fire during the campaign for his supporting Hillary Clinton and specifically, the Clinton Foundation. Records show Trump donated $250,000 to the Foundation and many conservatives have questioned how he can run as a Republican while playing on his extensive ties with the Clintons.

The Hill:

Republican primary front-runner Donald Trump on Sunday explained why he gave a quarter of a million dollars to the Clinton Foundation before he ran for president.

“I did give to the Clinton Foundation. What I didn’t know is they’d be using it for private aircraft and things like that,” Trump said on “Fox News Sunday.”

“The Clinton Foundation was helping with Haiti and with lots of other things, and I thought it was going to do some good work, so it didn’t make any difference to me,” he added.

The real estate mogul also pointed to his business interests in cultivating support among politicians from each party.

“Again, I was a businessman, and it was my obligation to get along with everybody, including the Clintons, including Democrats and liberals and Republicans and conservatives,” he said. “As a businessman, I had an obligation to do that.”

As a high profile member of the New York establishment, Trump naturally gravitated toward the former president and his wife, the sitting Senator from the state. That he felt it necessary as a businessman to cultivate the Clintons is not in dispute. But some of the glowing words he had for Hillary are not easily reconciled with his current thoughts about her.

Is insincerity a part of "getting along" with everybody? That's what most Republicans will have to decide before they vote.

To further clarify,,100% of the proceeds will go DIRECTLY to vet groups. We’ve already seen some of that being given out.

Probably not handled since Trump has private ownership of his brand and does not release his financials other than the required filings. None of his brand is public. Trump is the only person who holds the true Trump asset list.

Well, there is a link at Post#16.....showing Trump handing a $100 check to one outfit.

If that is the case, that is good. But political grandstanding is a very ugly thing at the expense of "the little people and/or the handicapped"...

For years TV stations have been "begging for Food, Fans/ coats, etc."....this is grandstanding and who will get a tax contribution write off? Makes me wonder how that works.

Let me help you, since it seems so obscure. There’s a secret little publication called US News & World Report,,you’ve probably never heard of it.

http://www.usnews.com/news/politics/articles/2016-01-30/the-latest-kasich-in-new-hampshire-as-rivals-focus-on-iowa

There’s also been another group who has already received funds. Going to have to get back with that link.

Do some research.

The Clinton Foundation makes a show of soliciting donations for their do-good projects. For example, the Foundation was active in earthquake-ravaged Haiti...one of the poorest nations on earth.

(Snix) Coincidentally, Hillary's brother received a rare government permit to mine Haiti/s lucrative gold reserves.

Trump told Fox News he later learned donations to the Foundation were used to finance Bill/s incessant globe-trotting.

========================================

BACKSTORY The non-profit American Indian Foundation was another of Bill Clintons money-raking schemes. AIF was co-founded 2001 by Clinton and former Goldman Sachs director Rajat Gupta. Clinton continues to serve as honorary chairman of the council of trustees, according to the website.

Gupta, a Clinton donor, was convicted of passing illegal trading tips to another former AIF trustee Raj Rajarantam in the highly-publicized 2011 insider trading case that took down Raj's Galleon hedge fund. Gupta is currently serving out a two-year prison term and was last listed as co-chairman of the AIF board in 2010.

=========================================

Rajat worked with ex-President Bill Clinton and Victor Menezes, onetime Senior Vice Chair of Citigroup, to found the American India Foundation (AIF). Rajat's attorneys noted this bit of do-goodism amid the fraud in a sentencing memo hoping to ease Guptas jailtime.

=========================================

THIS WE KNOW Under Bill Clinton and his felon friends, within its first year AIF raised millions of dollars to support earthquake relief efforts.

If the millions of dollars raised for earthquake relief went to other venues, L/E considers this to be mail fraud.

Trump is a Hillary plant. Told to use that big, blowhard mouth of his to rile people up and make their anger his focus.

If he is a Conservative, I am the Pope.

AFter Trump gets the nomination, we going to see the biggest bait and switch in history. It will be HUGE.

His pivot (back) to the center-left will be amazing to watch.

$100K check and it’s just the beginning. How long has it been since the money was actually raised?

What is the average turn around time for charitable dispersements? Since you seem to scoff it’s not good enough,,other than just being a bitch, what is your point?

Prove any OTHER candidate does better. You can’t. You are what losers look like.

So when Trump does something quietly, you just lie and blow it off like he’s done nothing for vets. When he does it publicly you call it grandstanding.

You must think you are perfect.

Trump is as conservative if not more than most of the pee-pants GOP in DC.

Trump is pro-America. Apparently those stripes don’t matter to you.

UH, thanks for the interpretation of what you think was done with it. lol

To clarify: see Post #16......look at the originator of that check. none other than the Donald J. Trump Foundation.....

At least some is getting out there, in spite of it being political grandstanding.

Who cares!

Let's for a moment, change it to:

"Rubio defends donations to Clinton Foundation. Does the Senator's explanation settle the issue?"

Suddenly... you'd care (and don't deny it).

100K is a very nice start and a very deserving group.

I hope the millions more find just as deserving a group of veterans.

If he is a Conservative, I am the Pope.

His supporters don't care that he isn't a conservative. It's his words that count. His past stances abortion and amnesty, and current stances on eminent domain and single-payer health care are water under their bridge. It's all about the words.
