Excuse me, everybody thought John Roberts was the greatest selection for that position possible. There were NO dissenting votes from any conservative leaders.

He fooled everybody. Cruz could no more see into his heart than you or I could. And everything Roberts had did or written pointed to exactly what all the conservatives wanted on the Supreme Court.

I still think they have something on Robert’s kids and/or the adoption and are using it to blackmail him.

Yup. There was a lot of support for Roberts right here on FR as well. I think your last statement is the real problem with Roberts. it's something that most folks wouldn't have had any insight to. Keep in mind as well that Souter is a Reagan appointee.

I’ve been upset with Ted Cruz since March 2013 when he obfuscated and helped Rand Paul’s fake filibuster that happened at the same moment Boehner was voting on CR for Obamacare.

That was my first red flag on Cruz.

Trump has nothing to do with this thread — I really started it because of Cruz’s connection and friendship with John Roberts.

Since then I’ve been trying to imagine what I would do had I been Cruz — in remedying what Roberts had done.

Cruz comes up very short. As for his father’s New Apostolic Dominionist views — which Ted apparently shares — I could write a book.

But for now, I wanted to look at Cruz’s friendship with John Roberts. And I do appreciate the research done.

Conservatives lose because we keep getting duped by GOPe people like Ted Cruz.

Thanks for sharing.

This. Brilliantly said.

False.

Cruz is a conservative.

You are a GOPE shill.

The reason the GOPE is joining the Trumpeter in attacking Cruz is because both hate conservatives like Cruz.

The reason the Court did not gut gun rights in Heller is largely due to Ted Cruz’s legal advocacy.

The reason Harry Reid is not the Senate Majority leader— because Cruz’s leadership shut down the Federal government.

We were told that Cruz’s obstinance would cause Republicans to lose senate seats in 2014.

Cruz won 5 conservative supreme court cases.

He is a conservative. He does oppose Planned Parenthood funding.

He is pro life. Donald Trump is not pro life.

I can excuse anyone anytime. As for “great” leaders there are none. The choice is the least worse candidate to vote for.

Show me Cruz’s electoral path to victory and I’ll buy it that Cruz isn’t working with Rove and the GOPe gang..

Remember you will be doing something even Cruz’s own team failed to evidence a few months ago.

You do understand the conservative fury over 2014? Or were you just not that into the Tea Party? Why is it obtuse to believe Cruz is just another sell out? It’s not like he has a whole list of “wins”’you can point to .

I asked you to work out Cruz’s path to electoral victory twice now... Something Cruz’s own team failed to do — and you tell me to “look it up myself”?

Do you understand what I was asking you to provide?

But not to busy to post on FR? It should be quick work for a Cruz true believer.

It’s okay... Just remember Cruz’s own people couldn’t come up with roadway to electoral victory when asked.

“Didn’t he also nominate Alito to the bench? Was that to appease the far left as well?”

Remember, George W. Bush’s choice for what is now the Alito seat was Harriett Miers who served as his White House counsel. He nominated her to fill the seat on October 3, 2005. The nomination quickly ran into opposition from across the political spectrum. Conservatives were particular critics of the nomination. In almost all quarters she was considered a lightweight with no judicial experience and an unclear judicial philosophy. The opposition was so intense, it quickly became clear she could not be confirmed by the Senate. On October 27, 2005 Miers asked Bush to withdraw her nomination.

After failing in nominating a mediocre candidate, who was likely a moderate, Bush under great pressure from the conservative wing of the party nominated Samuel Alito.

The point here is, nominating a solid conservative was not a priority of Bush. Roberts and Miers were his picks. Alito was forced on him by GOP conservatives.

We get our opinions from politicians we trust. Cruz and Roberts both clerked for Chief Justice Rehnquist. Ted Cruz called John Roberts "brilliant" and "a principled conservative" who could be trusted to faithfully observe the Constitution.

Cruz = epic fail!

Trust factor zero mister Cruz.
