Donald Trump on Sunday repeatedly slammed his chief presidential rival Sen. Ted Cruz as a "total liar" as the Texas senator and his allies have claimed in the final stretch to the Iowa caucuses that Trump favors government-run, universal health care.
Cruz, meanwhile, pressed forward Sunday with the line of attack, proclaiming: "A vote for Donald Trump is a vote for Obamacare."
"Look, Ted Cruz is a total liar. I am so against Obamacare. I've been saying it for two years in my speeches, I'm going to repeal and replace Obamacare," Trump said on ABC's "This Week." "I don't even know where he gets this."
Trump on Sunday strongly pushed back at Cruz and his allies' claims that he supports government-run, universal health care, noting that he says in nearly each campaign speech he gives that "Obamacare is a total disaster" and that he would "repeal and replace" Obama's signature health care law with something "terrific."

Trump has been for socialized medicine for a long time. What he advocated went far beyond Obamacare and was more like Hillarycare.
Now he brags that he’s been against Obamacare in his speeches for the last two years. Wow, two whole years! Probably about the time he decided he was going to run for president as a Republican.
Still he claims he will make sure everyone is covered and the government (which means the taxpayers) will pay for it.
“Now, now Trump. It isn’t “lying”. It is “using words wisely.”
- Ted Cruz
“The question is what you would replace it with . . . .”
I can answer that. He has said it more than half a dozen times.
1. The government will be out of health insurance except for medicare and the VA.
2. Insurance will be competitive across state lines. to drive the price down.
3. Medicare will no longer pay list price for drugs.
4. The indigent will be taken care of by the tax payer.
and 5. The illegals of course will no longer be here...
A distinction without a difference.
Ted Cruz campaign: $19 million cash on hand
There's a sucker born every minute.
It’s vastly computerized today, as I learned during the brief time I served in a Medicare/Medicaid technical support facility.
You keep posting this picture and I assume you don’t like Trump so what is so bad about what he said?
My “Big diff” comment was said in sarcasm. I agree with you, I want the government OUT of healthcare as much as possible.
In the UK under their debacle NHS, you can go to Dr. Bombay (whom I wouldn’t take my dog to) OR if you have the cash, illegally get care with cash under the table (for which the Brits have an entire govt. division to find snitches to OUT the really good private physicians). That is the reality. The Canadian reality is only marginally different— thanks to the prior presence of US institutions willing to take Canadians coming over the border for procedures and treatment, when their facilities have run out of money on the Canadian socialist teat.
Yes. See my post 68.
I hope you go through the rest of your life believing that because that will mean that Trump didn’t get elected.
Trump supporter. ...but I want to know that too.
One surmises, a business run for profit would replace with private sector solutions. Tort reform, etc...
If someone knows Trumps position on this, I’m all ears.
I would like to see you try.
Would you like me to answer with my reasons for supporting who I support, or are you going to just use my words to try to attack me?
And I am seriously asking this question. I have been burned before, trying to answer this question with a heavily thought out answer that was as sincere as I could make it, only to get told that I was a cultist, a Trumpanzee, and an idiot.
I have respected and looked up to you for a long time, Charles, even though I was lurking for most of it. I don’t want to get into a fight with you today.
Good post. My impression is Trump is just pandering, as is everyone else.
This race seems to be boiling down to a salesman vs a lawyer. They both over promise and you can only tell they’re lying when their lips move.
I’ve worked with beaucoup salesmen in my time and they are rather easily held accountable. Lawyers, not so much.
“4. The indigent will be taken care of by the tax payer.”
And this is not progressive? Who defines “indigent”?
No wonder Trumpian whoredom melts progressives’ hearts.
What a dirty business.
I know of at least six men in Canada who died of prostate cancer that would still be alive if they were in an HMO in the U.S.
Nope. Not going to fall into that trap. Fairly obvious that I could write you a thesis and you’d probably just call me a moron or something. Not worth wasting my time.
Do you hate all Jews or just the ones who don’t agree with you?
