Donald Trump on Sunday repeatedly slammed his chief presidential rival Sen. Ted Cruz as a "total liar" as the Texas senator and his allies have claimed in the final stretch to the Iowa caucuses that Trump favors government-run, universal health care.
Cruz, meanwhile, pressed forward Sunday with the line of attack, proclaiming: "A vote for Donald Trump is a vote for Obamacare."
"Look, Ted Cruz is a total liar. I am so against Obamacare. I've been saying it for two years in my speeches, I'm going to repeal and replace Obamacare," Trump said on ABC's "This Week." "I don't even know where he gets this."
Trump on Sunday strongly pushed back at Cruz and his allies' claims that he supports government-run, universal health care, noting that he says in nearly each campaign speech he gives that "Obamacare is a total disaster" and that he would "repeal and replace" Obama's signature health care law with something "terrific."

He’s more like Benedict Arnold.
I’m telling the truth.
This is sad; Trump has set to destroy - a tact that Cruz did not sought to do against Trump. Eating our own and there are some here who have rationalized somehow that is ok.
Obviously now there likely is no VP in Cruz, which is sad...that would have been quite a team.
Who would want to be Trump’s VP?
It’s too late to put the genie back in the bottle if Trump turns out to NOT be who he has changed himself into or claims to be.
Don’t worry, friend. He’s has said he will replace Obamacare with something ‘terrific’.
Doesn’t that reassure you? By the way, if folks don’t realize this, a President cannot ‘replace’ laws no matter how terrific the new law might be. That’s the legislature’s job. Besides, if Trump’s the nominee it will be President Sanders who gets to decide what terrific new plan gets presented to Congress.
Scott Pelley: How do you fix it?
Donald Trump: There’s many different ways, by the way. Everybody’s got to be covered. This is an un-Republican thing for me to say because a lot of times they say, “No, no, the lower 25 percent that can’t afford private.” But—
Scott Pelley: Universal health care?
Donald Trump: I am going to take care of everybody. I don’t care if it costs me votes or not. Everybody’s going to be taken care of much better than they’re taken care of now.
Scott Pelley: The uninsured person is going to be taken care of how?
Donald Trump: They’re going to be taken care of. I would make a deal with existing hospitals to take care of people. And, you know what, if this is probably—
Scott Pelley: Make a deal? Who pays for it?
Donald Trump: —the government’s gonna pay for it.

Canadian healthcare does work, as long as you don’t expect it to treat more than bumps and bruises.
It works so well that whenever possible, Canadian doctors also have practices in the United States and their Canadian patients visit them there.
No he said everybody would be covered, mostly by private insurance. He has talked extensively about allowing companies to compete across state lines to reduce costs and make it affordable. He was asked about people who couldn't afford it, and he said "everybody will be covered". Then he was asked who would pay for it, meaning those people who can't afford it and he said the government. He clearly didn't mean the government would pay of everybody, or there would be no need for competition and companies selling across state lines.
Levin has been very disappointing with his recent defense of Megyn Kelly.
Of just what?
As clear as your accusations that Christians have stood out as monsters everywhere Jews have been except — quite funnily — in the USA?
I’ll take Trumpcare over Obamacare. But when you give me that sandwich, I’ll smell it before I eat it.
This would be kind of going back to the status quo ante Obamacare, except now hospitals won’t have to eat it.
Indeed— Trump is just like corporatist America and Chamber of Commerce cronies— who have wanted national healthcare to take the expense of companies and cost shift it to national tax supported (and uh, mandated higher premiums to fake out the idiot private insurers, who have now mostly all left the business, except for United HC). September 2015, Trump is on record saying “I’m gonna cover everybody....” Who will provide coverage== “the government” (that’s US folks who already ARE providing it— he wants MORE)-— “and the govt’ will save money on the back end”.... JUST what obamaumaocare promised and. cannot. deliver. EVER. Single payer Canadian care— that is what Trump is trumpeting (how ironic). The entire system needs to be repealed— and NOT replaced with THIS single payer (after all, that would make Trump in agreement with Hitlery and really Bernie).
To say that Trump wants single payer government run health insurance implies that Trump has thought this through far enough to come up with a plan. The fact of the matter is that Trump doesn’t have a program and in fact hasn’t a clue on what to do about health care or much of anything else. His mouth says whatever it wants to and his brain generally isn’t even the neighborhood when he’s speaking.
Nobody draws time lines when making claims like this. Because if they did, most of these accusations would go away.
Universal COVERAGE is not the same as “single-payer full-blown socialized medicine”. He has made it clear that the vast majority of people would be covered by private insurance that would be allowed to compete across state lines. But some people can’t afford it because they don’t make enough or have pre-existing conditions. He’s talking about covering them in some way rather than having them just go to emergency rooms after they are sick.
Asked if he was calling for universal health care, Trump said: "I am going to take care of everybody. I don't care if it costs me votes or not.
Yes it sounds much like an un-Republican thing for him to say.
drivel
and sour grapes to boot
Of course Trump opposes Obamacare. Trump wants full-blown socialist universal healthcare.
Trump: “We must have universal healthcare” “Iâm a conservative on most issues but a liberal on this one.”
Oh look...another foreigner from a socialist country trolling our election process.
Kibitzing from the Kibbutz...
