I agree cops need to be able to do their jobs, but another issue here in the crumbling northeast is the lack of money for cops. A few years back, Newark NJ was in the throes of a homicide epidemic and still had to lay off 160+ cops because the money ran out (and Trenton wouldn’t forward any more from the ‘burbs).
Our most densely populated areas (the welfare reservations) simply can’t afford police protection anymore (or snow removal, for that matter).
There is more money than ever but the pie slice shrinks for law enforcement and expands for the parasites, many of which also commit other crimes.
