Charities must be consistent with how they handle all donations from politicians, otherwise their refusal or disclaimer is, indeed, a political act.

Unless a charity refuses any donations from any politicians, or insists in every case on publicly stating that accepting such a donation is not an endorsement, then doing either of those is, in my view, a prohibited political act from the charity.
