Evangelical Christians, at the moment, are totally enamored with a candidate who has profited off strip clubs, cheated on his wife, and appeared on the cover of the nation's pre-eminent porn magazine.
And to top it off, Jerry Falwell Jr.-the heir of the Moral Majority mantle-just endorsed him.

So far, Trump's top foes have largely steered clear of attacking him based on his sexcapades and scandals. Even while he and Rubio lob birther-esque attacks at Ted Cruz for being born in Canada, Trump has evaded any hard-hitting criticism for his multiple marriages, casino ownership, and appearance on the cover of Playboy magazine.
A series of tweets from Sen. Ben Sasse, a freshman Republican from Nebraska, may suggest that the days of giving Trump a pass over his New York-values personal life are over.
"You brag abt many affairs w/ married women," the senator tweeted on Jan. 24, addressing Trump. "Have you repented? To harmed children & spouses? Do you think it matters?"
In The Art of the Deal, Trump boasted about bedding other men's wives.
"If I told the real stories of my experiences with women, often seemingly very happily married and important women, this book would be a guaranteed best-seller," he wrote.

When it comes down to it, you’re going to have to choose between sinners.
And if it comes down to Trump v. Hillary, are you going to choose the braggart man who had an affair, or the woman who murdered her way to the top and intends to let more illegals in to rape and murder more?
And before you bring in Cruz, all I have to say is that with all the information coming in about him, he’s starting to slide further and further down the ol’ morality-o-meter the more information comes in about him.
reading the comments here just reiterates the reason I left the established Evangelical/Protestant/Pentecostal/Fundamentalist Christian church as they are the LEAST forgiving religion on the planet! It should not matter one iota when Trump repented, it ONLY matters that he did. At least THAT is what Christ taught, too bad those who claim to represent Him do not!
I KNOW RIGHT?!
This is why I’m Lutheran. Everyone’s a poor miserable sinner.
Sorry, not about who’s a sinner. That’s between them and God. This is about what I personally find offensive in anyone, much less someone who wants to be President. This is about a man who had multiple affairs, harmed other families by having sex with married women and then added insult to injury by bragging about it.
You can be okay with it, I’m not.
In all likelihood, no one. I have seen nothing in Trump to show that he is any different today than he was then.
Never fear, I now live in MS, which always votes red. It seems the only thing they find morally offensive is the lottery.
“He behaves like the little snitch, who always is looking for an opportunity to ingratiate himself to mommy dearest.”
Mommy dearest or Mrs. Cleaver.
Yeah, and Cruz opposed Prop 187, supported TPA and HB-1 visas, which led to rapes and murders and Americans losing jobs and the damaging of our electoral process on top of that.
If we want to play the numbers game, that means that your saint Cruz (ALL HAIL HIS NAME) harmed a LOT more people than Trump ever did.
You can be okay with that if you want to stick your nose up in the air and pretend to be perfect. But I sure the hell am NOT okay with it.
I know a number of people who are conservative but aren't religious. What offends them about stuff like this isn't the sex angle. It's the trust angle. Singles fornicating with singles? Fine. Married man consorting with singles? One strike. Married man having a fling with married women? Two strikes. It's doubly bad when the guy operates a casino and a diploma mill - both businesses that prey on human frailty. Trump's entire record is of sticking it to people for his personal gratification. Now he comes up with position papers claiming a Road to Damascus conversion to conservatism, without acknowledging his previous liberal positions - positions that were different depending on what year you asked, but fairly consistent in their liberalism. You have to be very trusting to pick Trump as your first choice for GOP nominee.
Living in a parsonage for the first 18 years of my life, and then tangentially for 50 years, I’ve heard and learned a lot. The members — especially the men — condemning sex-related sinfulness usually “fell” far and hard later on. I don’t know if it was God’s way of teaching humility, or Satan’s way of making that person ineffective as a witness. Whatever... they learned difficult lessons, ruined many lives, and had to eat a lot of crow.
So Christians “cringing”, wringing their hands, and loudly condemning now shouldn’t be surprised when they get their come-uppance.

And it is exactly why I am no longer a Lutheran, though I do adhere to what is written in my Lutheran study bible that teaches the exact opposite of what is taught & preached every Sunday. Christ & the apostles taught that when a sinner repents, we are to no longer hold that past sin against them. So why do Lutheran’s throw in your face every chance they get, that which is of the past rather than focus on the present & the future?
Simple enough.
Simultaneously saint and sinner. We need to confess because we still sin every day in thought, word, and deed, and we hear forgiveness every day because we’re beloved children of God.
He’s got how many baby mamas now?
Three mamas but, in fairness, I think he had all the children within wedlock. Marla might have gotten pregnant unexpectedly, so #2 might have been a shotgun wedding.
The last I heard Trump said he has never asked God for forgiveness. I don't expect perfect leaders - only Jesus meets that criteria - but a man running for the most powerful position in the world should have SOME humility before Almighty God, shouldn't he? I am truly grieving that even genuine Conservative Christians are following the path that not twenty years ago we were shocked about the idea of electing someone for whom character didn't matter more than our economy.
Really? You think that no one can go a single day without sin? Where is that in the Bible? Jesus told the woman to 'go and sin no more', so why would He have said this if it was impossible to do?
No, the problem is with man's twisting what Jesus said. The Word of God specifically tells us what sin is and Jesus, the living Word of God, tells us that through the power of His spirit in us, we too can overcome as He overcame the temptations of the devil. So, NO!, we do not necessarily need to repent everyday, however, we should take time everyday in prayer to thank God for the blessings we receive and the tribulations we bear in His Name.
"To he who overcomes!" Maybe it's time the churches start preaching and teaching what it means to be an overcomer, because Jesus certainly did and He left us an example that wee should follow, that we should not be lead astray by every wind of man made religious doctrine wherein there is no profit.
You mean like Ted Cruz, the natural born Canadian who said during the last presidential election cycle that a natural born citizen is one born to 2 citizen parents, thereby, his exclusive allegiance is to the Untied States from birth? So please, do not single out Trump! Everyone of the candidates, including the 'Huckster', are nothing but men seeking power to rule over the ignorant and uneducated American citizenry by usurping the US Constitution, EVERYONE of them, NONE is without a political agenda and NONE of them even know the Supreme Law, they only know the usurpation of it by the decades of misapplication of the law that the misapplication of the law has now become law by fiat. And by allowing the misapplication of the law to become law by fiat, the American citizenry is further enslaved to the government and the men of greed who run it.
Really?
You can go 24 hours without a single selfish thought. You can go 24 hours without being angry at someone, or insulting someone, or thinking bad thoughts about someone. You can go 24 hours without even a hint of lustful thoughts. You can go 24 hours without wasting time on your own pleasure. You can go 24 hours without hating someone or dishonoring your parents or wanting something that doesn’t belong to you or saying anything but the full and complete truth. You can go for a day without even being tempted to sin at all. You can spend an entire day without doing or thinking or saying anything at all that is even the slightest bit less than perfect and holy and righteous in the sight of God.
In that case, Saint Paul better step aside; we’ve got a new super-apostle in town.
Just exactly what does the Bible define as sin? Except for the dishonoring parents, in which my parents are dead, when my focus is on His Word the entire day, when I have it in my heart, on my mind and using it through the works of my hands such as now, YES, I can go an entire day, in fact, many days because my focus is NOT on me, it is on Christ & His Spirit in me. I can hardly stand to even listen to Christian music anymore as it is all about ‘me’, what can He do for “me”. Well, what about ‘what can I do for “HIM”. When my day is focused on Him and not me, those are the most wonderful days of all. they all are not easy days, but they are blessed days.
WWJD, how long has this been out there now? Well, it is a stupid question because we KNOW what Jesus did and He did it as an example that we are to imitate. 1Peter 2:21-22
So maybe if more Christians would begin their day by asking ‘what DID Jesus DO’ and then opening their bibles, reading it, studying it and then apply it to their day, they wouldn’t have so much to be regretful for because we do not know if we will even live to the next day or through the entire next day now do we?
And so today was another ‘good & blessed’ day for me. It was not without trials, but as we applied His Word to those trying times, at the end of this day, we have absolutely NOTHING to regret or repent of because we relied on His example to get us through those trials. And as to those material things you covet, well, we have always lived a simple life and there is nothing that the “Joneses” have that even comes close to the blessings God has graciously endowed us with, such as the day we had today with our grandchildren. Shalom
