17,465 people died from overdosing on illicit drugs last year and another 25,760 people died from overdosing on prescription drugs.
That amounts to 118 per day.
In my opinion, the "dominant public health issue" of today could be drugs.?
Could the more than 30,700 Americans who died from alcohol-induced causes last year be a "dominant public health issue"?
That amounts to 84 deaths per day.
The bottom line is that alcohol consumption, drug consumption, and a person with a gun can kill you but a gun cannot.
