The proof is Jeff Sessions, who led the charge with Ted Cruz to kill the bill. He backs up every word of Ted Cruz’s account of how they killed the Gang of Eight bill.
First, it would seem that Ted Cruz was being willfully dishonest in his efforts in that while on the one hand he was supporting the bill while offering the poison pill he was hoping to kill the bill. That seems like one explanation.
Second, Rand Paul (either truthfully or just because he's campaigning) disputes Ted's story.
From today's Washington Post
Cruz's Record On Immigration Can't Be Redeemed By Sen. Jeff Sessions
And yet, all signs seem to point towards Sessions lending his support to Trump.
This is a communication issue. By now, Cruz should have developed a succinct message that would resonate and put the issue to bed.
Quick quiz to show how important this is:
What does Trump think of Bush? Low Energy
What's Trumps position on illegal immigration? We're going to build a wall.
How is government doing right now?We have stupid people running the country.
Now, put aside any bias or even whether you believe this. How has Trump communicated his message in comparison to the rest of the candidates?
This poison-pill thing isn't new. And yet, it's still a major topic of the debate because Ted Cruz hasn't killed it. Same with NBC; it's still fuzzy for a lot of people because Cruz hasn't killed it.
It's amazing that so many conservatives don't want to understand this.
