Obamacare’s rising costs out of reach for many

President Obama says that most Americans can find a health insurance option for $75 or less per month. Independent analyses for 2016 are painting a much more difficult picture for the average consumer. The average “Silver” plan premium (that most people have) costs about $300 a month.

That’s not the biggest problem, according to analysts. For many, their health insurance has dramatically changed under Obamacare. Deductibles and out of pocket expenses are higher, so many of their medical expenses are no longer covered. Some consumers who say they had good, affordable plans prior to the Affordable Care Act say they can no longer afford the new plans, which are substandard in terms of what they cover.

We’ll dig into the trends and numbers Sunday on Full Measure. Also, we’ll report on the “Porker of the Year” –the federal official or politician deemed to be guilty of the most egregious taxpayer waste, as revealed by the Citizens Against Government Waste watchdog group. And Scott Thuman reports from Iowa on the quirky caucuses.

Last Sunday, we reported on huge salaries for executives at some nonprofits –that seem less than charitable. Watch the story here. See our past segments and programs at FullMeasure.news and our YouTube channel.

Pure bureaucratic B.S.

I think this will stand as a lesson, that will last at least a generation, about what you can get if you vote for an illiberal “liberal.” You will get horse manure stuffed down your throat, being called chocolate cake.

Sure. The lying SOB's told us it would be cheaper. HA! The dumb bastards who voted for these lying, incompetent skunks deserve everything they get...including outrageously expensive health care premiums. AND that TRAITOROUS John Roberts helped the dogcrap politicians to wrap the chains of slavery around our necks and sink the American population. TRAGIC!!!

If the only thing one can afford is Medicaid, Obamcare sucks.

I’m glad I don’t have to sign up for a crappy plan that would still have left me paying out of pocket costs before it covered me.

And its just as well the Obamacare enrollment window is closed until next year.

Might have been the right move for the wrong reason. “We The People” needed to get back into the game, not just throw our faith over the transom to Washington. Notice that Trump has stepped up to catch the movement at the moment.

I’ve had no health insoranc3 for two years. It’s not worth the cost. I saved $26,000 after tax dollars.

I don’t pay a monthly premium, I have low co payment costs and I never ever have to see a hospital bill again.

Medicaid is for me a good value - almost as good as the HMO plan I had in my youth.

I don’t think a $300 month Silver plan is worth it.

Not when you have to pay deductibles before you’re covered.

The political class in Washington decided our decent health plans weren’t good enough so they forced substandard ones on us.

And they’re not sorry they did it.

The problem for many is they can afford the premiums, or actual health care ... but not both. Since they are forced to buy premiums, they cannot afford the health care that they need.

And then there is the problem that the ‘networks’ are so narrow (and narrowing even more) that even if you can afford to go to a doctor, you may not be able to find one that will see you or see you in a timely manner. If you have a serious health issue, your best bet is to head to the ER.

Yup - and they still haven’t licked the uninsured problem.

What is good is health insurance if its not even health insurance?

You might as well have the taxpayers cover whatever your cash doesn’t when you see the doctor.

The deductible is part of the problem. Also, health care is very cheap when they know you are paying out of pocket.

Btw, I’m 62, so the bronze plan is so expensive that I don’t have to pay the “fair share” penalty. :-)

Yup. EMTALA will cover ER care and if you have a life threatening illness, you can’t be refused treatment because of inability to pay for it.

Cheap for them of course.

Insurers would never have agreed to Obamacare if it wasn’t made expensive and a captive market.

Its not free market health insurance no matter what any one tells you.

We HAD decent health plans. Obama, et al, decided we, WHO WERE PAYING FOR HEALTH INSURANCE, weren’t paying enough. So he dictated that all health plans had to carry maternity and dental for kids. So all who were paying for their own health plans now have to cover every pregnant woman and all children for certain things. It is just a way to move us to single payer. And if/when that happens, watch your Fed taxes go up 15%. And you still cannot control how good your health care will be. Obama knew this.......that’s why he did it....Cloward-Piven. You must bankrupt a country before you can change the Government operation.

I’m already on single payer. Its simply a matter of time before most Americans fall into it.

They simply cannot afford a private health insurance plan.

Yup, a lesson that liberals always make things more expensive and less generous than used to be the case before.
