I figured Trump would find some childish way to abstain.

The challenge to debate by Cruz was a childish move. Cruz knows full well that the RNC would not approve a debate outside the agreed upon rules. As far as the eligibility issue is concerned, it is as serious as a heart attack. There are substantive issues surrounding the definition of natural born citizen as it applies to eligibility for the Presidency. It has never been litigated with Constitutional scholars coming down on different sides re Cruz.

Is Ted Cruz a 'natural born Citizen'? Not if you're a constitutional originalist

“I figured Trump would find some childish way to abstain.”

He had to abstain.

While I think it would be good for the country for Trump and Cruz to debate, I understand why Trump, as the front runner, wants to avoid getting bloodied.

It’s good politics, even if not good for the voters.

"I figured Trump would find some childish way to abstain."

What do you want to bet that Cruz shuts up about a one on one debate?

Debate topic: How can Ted Cruz claim to be a constitutionalist when he’s not constitutionally eligible for the office he’s competing for?

I figured Trump would find some childish way to abstain.

He can't anyway, moron. Not a sanctioned debated and prohibited by rules. I'd think your genius Cruz would also know that.
