You know, despite all the carping on this site lately, there is something we could do that would actually shed some light on the turnout question, in real time on Monday.
Freepers who live in IA and intend to caucus, say a dozen or so, could first determine how many people showed up in 2012 at their caucus site and post that info. Someone could collate the responses into one easy-to-read chart.
Then, Monday night, they could go to the caucus, take a headcount at 7:15 or so, and report what their count. If they wanted to also add a comment as to the makeup of the crowd, fine, but not necessary.
With a dozen or so data points, we’d have an excellent gauge as to whether the turnout will be at record-breaking levels, or not, particularly if some of the observers were from areas that generally see a fairly large number of attendees.
Just a thought....wouldn’t be terribly difficult to implement, assuming the records are easy to obtain from the 2012 caucus.
Oh, and the reason for doing it? Trump’s supporters, per the polls, tend to be people who haven’t usually caucused regularly in the past, and a high turnout would indicate they’re turning out for him.
Good idea. I have yet to see anyone identify as being from Iowa.
