A Newark, New Jersey deli owner who shot and killed an armed man will not face charges, police and prosecutors say.
Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray as well as Newark Police Director Eugene Venable say that the owner of the deli had a permit for the gun that he used to defend himself.
New Jersey is notorious for having some of the strictest gun regulations in the nation. The robber apparently thought that meant there was no legal way for his would-be victims to arm themselves.
According to Guns.buzz, Mark Robinsonâs last words inside the New Neighborhood Deli Supermarket were âI thought you couldnât own a gun in New Jersey.â
Robinson, 46, had walked into the deli around 8:30 p.m. and immediately pointed a gun at the owner, who didnât hesitate to pull his own weapon and fire. Robinson was pronounced dead at around 10 pm.
Hey an article finally reporting one of the thousands of defense situations citizens find them selves in daily.
One less worm.
One less worm but food for thousands of worms, As it should be.
Another robber’s famous last words:
“Pussy, I ain’t afraid of yo’ m****f****ing gun! Gimme dat!”
Doesn’t a story like that make you go all warm and fuzzy?
This is a good illustration of why New Jersey’s draconian, unconstitutional gun laws are dangerous and destructive.
The law is a teacher. If the gun laws were just and constitutional, those who are bent toward thug behavior like this dead perp would be constrained.
If they won’t be guided in their actions by love and concern for their fellow human beings, our laws are supposed to restrain them via fear of speedy retribution by the citizenry and our government.
Years ago, our BIL had a grocery store in Memphis. He & his
kids were there one day by themselves. A robber came in on
them wielding a gun at them. The BIL very quickly knocked the gun out of the robber’s hand, and the guy fled as the gun landed way back under a fixture. :o)
To solve that problem you take the bad guy’s gun and kill him with it.
Do you have another source? My work is blocking the one you provided as an “extremist site.” I’d like to post the story on FB.
if I was willing to go anywhere in NJ, I’d eat at that deli.
If the story is true, this is priceless.
This is right up there with “As God is my witness, I thought turkeys could fly”.
As the guardian said:
I’d like to believe that Newark Police Director Eugene Venable knows that the deli owner does not need a permit to own a handgun in New Jersey or to keep it in his store, but it’s Newark.
