Hillary Clinton’s desultory campaign is sinking
Washington Post ^

Even with all the drama of the 2016 Republican contest for the presidential nomination, it is impossible not to notice the slow-motion train wreck that is the Hillary Clinton campaign.

The campaign is beset by four woes that don’t seem to have any quick remedy. The only way forward for the Democratic front-runner is to hunker down, slog it out and win ugly. Since “malaise” is an overused word in politics, I’ll categorize Clinton’s campaign as “desultory” – or, “lacking a plan or enthusiasm.”

A bombshell hidden in this story:

Third, Clinton’s email scandal has receded in the news, but it’s growing more dangerous every day. It is an iceberg that cannot be avoided. As I always say, in politics, being innocent is only an advantage, and likewise, being guilty is only a disadvantage. Neither is necessarily determinative. But it appears that Clinton mishandled classified information, and that she didn’t do it alone. Others on her staff appear to have been part of a regular practice of sending now-classified information over Clinton’s secret server located at her home in New York. Legal experts around town that I have spoken to are matter-of-fact about this prima facie case. There is no question among the experts I talked to about whether she is guilty; there is only a question of whether the Justice Department will indict, slow-walk the case or stiff-arm the FBI. And you routinely hear that the frustrated FBI is not going to be willing to go quietly in the face of the clear evidence it has collected.

It took the special prosecutor quite a while to flip Monica Lewinsky but it was finally done and done thoroughly. It is probable that the FBI is rolling up Hillary's subordinates and building a case not just of passive failure to observe secrecy laws, but active mens rea demonstrating criminal intent.

I love it that Hitlery is sinking into the mire, but I also can’t stand that crackpot Sanders. There was an article about his pathetic background in Investor’s Business Daily today. I hope some of you saw it. A complete loser.

but active mens rea demonstrating criminal intent.

What does that mean?

“Strike me down and I will become more powerful than you could possibly imagine.”

The Hillary diaries are out there, waiting to be published.

This criminal witch should have been in jail decades ago. How this turns out will tell the American public about the veracity, legality and credibility of its federal government and of the real purpose of the MSM.

The word has gone out from the Foreign Policy Community to the Mainstream Media that Hillary is finished and is probably going to be indicted. Therefore, it's safe to criticize her.

The next step will be "speculation" that Biden, Kerry, Gore or Warren would make a fine nominee.

Mens rea is a legal phrase used to describe the mental state a person must be in while committing a crime for it to be intentional. It can refer to a general intent to break the law or a specific, premeditated plan to commit a particular offense.

As WC Fields once said, "pardon my redundancy" in the original reply.

A crime requires a joint union of an act and an intent: an ‘evil mind/mens rea to commit that action.
Without both there’s no crime.

"Desultory: lacking a plan, purpose, or enthusiasm."

What pure unadulterated crap from the head crap giver--the WA Compost. She has a plan--lie, lie, lie, and lie again, ad infinitum. NONSENSE!

Boy, do the Democrats have problems this year. Shrillary's campaign has all the enthusiasm of an office supply convention in Salt Lake City. The frowning people that show up at her rallies, they look like they want to jab themselves in the eye with sharp pencils.

If Joe Biden decided to run, she'd already be about out of the race. But we got Bernie Sanders, the commie. Even though he's a full-blown socialist who wants to take tax rates to 90 per cent, he's looks to cream Shrillary in Iowa and New Hampshire. That's not a reflection of how great a campaigner the sleepy disheveled Sanders is but a reflection on just how awful Shrillary is as as candidate.

All the attention has been on Trump and the GOP this year but what a train wreck it's been on the Democratic side. A slow and painful train wreck.

Well, I guess with a good team of attorneys she would walk free.

Thanks for the info.

Right.

They want to flip Hillary’s underlings. These folks are facing big criminal charges, but can work with the FBI showing what Hillary knew and when she knew it.

My understanding is ‘gross negligence’ is enough for the mishandling of classified information.

My expectation is Hillary steps out of the campaign and Obama pardons her his last day in office.

This case is in the hands of the FBI. There are agents who remember all too well how Billyboy made bitches out of the Bureau in the 1990's.

The FBI is like the mills of God. Though they grind slowly, they grind exceeding small.

Hillary is well and truly F*)*ed, and won't even get kissed.

Biden, Warren, Kerry or Gore. Maybe all four of them. It's too late to get their names on primary ballots, so the spiel will be, "Vote for Hillary even though she has left the race. Her name will be a placeholder for an open convention and will keep Sanders from winning by default."

Then the four can fight it out on the second, third and further ballots. It will make the 1968 Chicago convention look like a Sunday picnic.
