Prayer is important at Florida's Cambridge Christian School.
"We train our students that prayer is foundational to their walk with Christ," Head of School Tim Euler told me. "Our faith is founded in prayer."
So when Cambridge Christian faced off against University Christian School last December in the 2A state championship football game, they asked the Florida High School Athletic Association if they could begin with a word of prayer.
The FHSAA said no.

Everyone is missing the point. They are free to pray but throughout the stadium. This isn’t a religious issue, it’s a speech issue. They are trying to restrict free speech. No one is forced to “participate” in the prayer.
Imagine if the government told the Democrats “You are allowed to hold a political rally but you cannot criticize the Republicans because someone might be offended and it implies the government endorses one party”.
Pray anyway and politely tell them to stuff it.
Yup. Military dictum: Don’t ask the question if you can’t stand the answer.
