The Bundy brothers and several of their supporters were on their way to a meeting in John Day, OR. when this happened. Why they thought they could simply drive there I do not know...but I suspect there may have been more to it than that.

This was not a routine traffic stop. The Feds had them under surveillance The Feds id’ed the car and they got them stopped.

I have heard conflicting reports about how LaVoy Finicum, one of the spokesmen for the group, was killed. Bundy’s brother texted his wife as he was being taken into custody that LaVoy was trying to cooperate and negotiate an end to the standoff on the road when he was shot...but that is unconfirmed.

Well they have learned something from Waco then. If they would have done it the same way to David Koresh many lives would have been saved.
