I did not say he was bought. I merely asked because I personally find it a strange endorsement for someone of his supposed interests. Trump did not support Kim Davis. I guess Falwell is really really worried about the discrimination against the words “Merry Christmas.” Or, he needed a big donor.

BTW, Falwell’s dad was principled. I have never been confident in the son in the same way. I don’t know him so cannot say except for my own impression, admittedly limited. I did respect Jerry Falwell Sr.

Another sighting of the now very common species “Trump Pander Bear”.
The Trump Pander Bear; panders to everything it can find.

>>Okay, so to my surprise a number of people I have varying degrees of respect for have now endorsed Trump.

Robert Jeffrees
Phyllis Schlafly
Jerry Fallwell Jr.
Sarah Palin

Frankly, this troubles me on a number of levels. One, why select Trump over Cruz? Two, I really ask myself why Trump. Are they deceived? Certainly, I consider I could be the one who is wrong, but I just have this uneasy feeling about Trump and that he is all but certain to turn his back on Conservatives and conservative principles he claims fealty to.<<

Maybe you are wrong and they are right? These people who are respected, see something in Trump and they are not dummies or idiots blinded by emotion. They know he is not a perfect conservative but he’s not a bought and paid for politician either.

Maybe they see that he is a patriot who wants to put Americas interests first and has done very conservative things all his life like supporting the veterans.

Maybe they think he would move the ball farther to the right than Cruz ‘the perfect conservative’?

It will take time.

Actually, it was Jerry Falwell Sr. that was a respected religious leader. Jerry Jr. is a lawyer who runs the school his father left him. He might be a fine Christian, and even may be a good school administrator, but I’ve never heard of him being considered a “religious leader”.

Jerry Falwell Jr. Is a lawyer businessman. His younger brother is a pastor, took over for his father after he passed at Thomas Road Baptist Church. They just lost they're mother in October.

I hope this doesn't hurt the legacy his father built in Lynchburg but can't see how it won't.

We already have abortion everywhere, is Trump going to give us more abortion? Less abortion? How would he be able to reduce or eliminate abortion, the constitutionally protected sacred right of women (as a democrat would put it. Maybe abortion is not one of his key issues...that’s good nor bad to me.

Well, you're quoting Trump now, right? I mean that's what he says. However, this is not the position of conservatives who hope to reverse this horrible crime. See the link. You can see and hear Trump say he supports partial birth abortion.

Good news, but what about Franklin Graham. His support would be YUGE!

I was prepared to give him the benefit of a doubt all along, even his changes of heart re abortion, but he just today apparently weaseled on that in his endorsement of PP in saying that “they do some good things too”. Yeah, well, Hitler gave people jobs and got the autobahn built, so never mind that he killed 6 million Jews.

As a Christian, I’m done. It’s Cruz or no one.

Perhaps a symptom of the strong delusion which would even deceive the elect, if possible.

He’s gotta do what he’s gotta do, I’ve gotta do what I gotta do. In the end, I answer to God for my choices and stances, not any human.

Rev. Jerry Falwell Jr. of Liberty University,

Hum, the guy isn't a reverend, he's a lawyer...

Imagine if Ted Cruz made this error...

Maybe a 800 to 1,000 post thread...

Well some of the students aren’t in the tank.

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

The announcement by the Trump campaign left some students and alumnae at the famous Christian university ashamed of their Falwell’s decision. Many expressed frustration, rage and confusion on social media and some used Twitter to clarify that the endorsement does not represent them.
dear world, our school president may have endorsed Trump, but the vast majority of us definitely do NOT, & are quite frankly disappointed. - Kelly Gibbs (@KellyGee_24) January 26, 2016
i wish i could go back in time and not apply to liberty university. i’m ashamed to be a part of a school that endorses donald fucking trump. - doin’ it right (@kookoomendez001) January 26, 2016

Let’s remember @JerryJrFalwell personal endorsement does not represent @LibertyU nor staff/students/alum, there is a fine but distinct line — Josh Puccio (@J_Puccio) January 26, 2016
OMG...Seriously I’m deeply disturbed by this...Idk how to take it! @LibertyU as a student I’m ashamed https://t.co/pUo6UIRRQi — Kris Cruz (@rc_kris) January 26, 2016

I would like to see more Christian leaders speaking out. We are, after all, a Judeo-Christian nation, or at least we used to be. People of faith built this nation. No doubt the Donald will welcome this endorsement. Go Donald! The race is yours to win or lose.

He made a mistake. Hope people won’t be too hard in him, he is still grieving over the loss of his mother. Maybe he can do something to redeem himself one day. God gives us that opportunity.
