Had not thought of that one. Rush started to jump on it, I think read some e-mails, and then backed off a little, concluding that everything Trump says about deal making involves “winning.”
A long time ago I read a terrific book on real estate negotiation called “Winning Through Intimidation,” and one of the main points to winning was that the things the enemy throws up to kill a deal must be treated as “points to deal with” not hurdles. It all goes to the mental framework: I’m going to do a deal here, and I’m going to win. Republicans are so puppy-trained to losing because they’ve NEVER had someone go in with the intention of winning-—just not losing too badly.
I would suggest everybody get on Netflix and watch George C. Scott giving George S. Patton’s talk to his troops. The flamboyant, aggressive,no-holds barred attitude was the stock in trade for Patton to rally his troops mentally and spiritually to WIN. It was his ATTITUDE that he built into his troops instinct. Winning was his creed. Donald Trump admires Patton and the lessons show.
I know an old Patton soldier very well. He is 94 now but still sharp as a tack He has said “Patton would walk on water and we’d follow him right over the waves without getting our feet wet.”
Trump is building the fighting spirit in America. It has been dormant far too long. We’ve had enough.
