Trump: Ted Cruz is a Liar
Newsmax ^ | 01/26/2016 | Sandy Fitzgerald

Donald Trump Tuesday tore into rival GOP presidential candidate Ted Cruz, calling him a "liar" and a "nasty" person who nobody likes — and said he is a "lone wolf" like President Barack Obama, only "more strident."

"Ted Cruz lies," the front-runner for the party's nomination told MSNBC's "Morning Joe" program. "He is a liar. That's why nobody likes him. That's why the Senate people won't endorse him. He stands in the middle of the Senate floor and can't make a deal with anybody. He's a jerk."

The ad is ‘true’ in the slimy, slippery, deceptive DC-politician/lawyer definition of ‘true’.

It’s one reason your guy is losing.

That said- I will vote for Trump despite my reservations, if he is our nominee. And I don't buy this Clinton phone call. Seems like BS.

Remember Ross Perot and Bill Clinton were caught having lunch together in New Mexico during Clintons reelection campaign? They were the best of friends, I suppose.
Perot split the Republican vote and Clinton was reelected. He'd have lost if his newly found friend Ross wasn't there to give him a hand.
What ever happened to Perot after that? Unlike other candidates, he simply disappeared ! Poof!

Why wouldn't a NYC progressive like Trump do the same favor for his favorite couple the Clintons? He's ALWAYS supported Hillary. He's a billionaire. What has he got to lose by splitting the vote or blowing a campaign? His gal pal will be making all the rules!!

Yeah, keep harping on that instead of explaining why Trump thought it was okay to use the brute force of government to TAKE property from private citizens and REDISTRIBUTE it to himself.

Sigh, that is absolutely the heart of it. There is always so much parsing that goes into what politicians say and claim. It is why Trump is leading, none of that bs talk that says one thing but hides another.

It’s going to be insufferable here when the left rolls out their attacks on Cruz, why they most definately will. Some of what I’ve learned doesn’t bode well.

How did Trump get rich on eminent domain when Atlantic City lost the case and Trump’s vastly larger offer was refused?

If the truth is so bad, why lie?

No it wasn’t.

“Republican presidential frontrunner Donald Trump may have found someone he could picture as his vice presidential running mate, former Massachusetts Senator Scott Brown. Brown now living in New Hampshire hosted a rally for the GOP frontrunner on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 where Trump agreed with an audience member that Brown would be “very good” vice president. Brown host Trump as part of “No BS Backyard BBQ” series.”

Agree totally. It’s amazing that some can’t see just how fed up, sick and tired voters are with the word parsing routine. Conservatives thought it sickening when Bill Clinton did it [though liberals and the MSM lapped it up]. Now we get outright dishonesty from a candidate...and some defend it? SMH.

The left won’t roll on Cruz unless he’s the nominee, and that’s looking less and less likely. I just want to know whose idea it was to attack Branstad. There aren’t enough face palms in the world for that one.

What part of the eminent domain ad is a lie?

The most glaring lie is that eminent domain abuse made Trump rich.

If you listen very carefully to the ad, it never actually says Trump bulldozed the house. It is carefully crafted to give the viewer the impression that Trump bulldozed the house and threw the poor little old lady out on the street.

Actually, Trump offered the woman far more than what the house was worth and she refused, possibly because she was holding out for more money.

The city, thinking that casino development was the key to getting the city boatloads of tax money (and the public benefits that money would bring), stepped in and condemned the house and tried to evict her. She fought the city and Trump in court, and won. Two decades later, the house was sold and then eventually it was torn down.

The ad dishonestly avoids mentioning the court case and the fact that she never spent a single day homeless. The Cruz campaign didn't want people to know that because it would make it seem that Trump and his cronies weren't as powerful as they wanted the viewers to believe.

That's the way slimy politicians get elected.

The article is fundamentally misleading. A woman at Scott Brown’s event suggested him for veep, and Trump responded graciously, so as not to embarrass his host. But he has never independently mentioned Brown as a possibility. He HAS said his veep must be tough on illegals, which Brown isn’t.

It’s going to be insufferable here when the left rolls out their attacks on Cruz,

Trump has financially supported democrats for decades. He's always been one of their biggest supporters and biggest fans. Because of that, the left has all the dirt on Trump they need. All they have to do is bring out his own words in support of Hillary and the far left wing agenda - so Conservatives will just stay home. They'll want nothing to do with him. Trump will be lucky to get 10 votes by the time the democrats expose the real NYC far left wing progressive Donald Trump.

AND, the left can even be really nice about it and praise him for his life long support of progressivism. They can even play recordings and show videos of how much Trump agrees with everything they've ever done. Trump will be made into a far left wing hero who ushered in the end of the Republic. Hillary may even choose him as her VP!

>> Now who has the right temperament? <<

Don’t tell me you mean to imply that calling Ted Cruz “nasty” and a “jerk” and a “liar” indicates a lack of good temperament?

Wow! How could you ever come to such a conclusion?

The Kelo Case and Trump’s case were different. Kelo was verus the city of New London, Connecticut. It went to the Supreme Court.

Trump’s case was in Atlantic City with Vera Coking.

From Wikipedia: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vera_Coking

Vera Coking is a retired homeowner in Atlantic City, New Jersey whose home was the focus of a prominent eminent domain case involving Donald Trump.

In 1961, Coking and her husband bought the property at 127 South Columbia Place as a summertime retreat for $20,000.[1]

In the 1970s, Penthouse magazine publisher Bob Guccione offered Coking $1 million for her property in order to build the Penthouse Boardwalk Hotel and Casino. She declined the offer, and Guccione started construction of the hotel-casino in 1978 around the Coking house, but ran out of money in 1980 and construction stopped. The steel framework structure was finally torn down in 1993.[2]

In 1993, Donald Trump bought several lots around his Atlantic City casino and hotel, intending to build a parking lot designed for limousines.[3] Coking, who had lived in her house at that time for about 35 years, refused to sell. When Coking refused to sell to Trump, the city of Atlantic City condemned her house, using the power of eminent domain. Her designated compensation was to be $251,000,[4] about one quarter of what Guccione had offered her 10 years earlier.

With the assistance of the Institute for Justice, Coking fought the local authorities, and eventually prevailed.[5] Superior Court Judge Richard Williams ruled that, because there were “no limits” on what Trump could do with the property, the plan to take Coking’s property did not meet the test of law. But Williams’ ruling did not reject the practice of using eminent domain to take private property from one individual and transferring it to another, which would eventually be upheld by the Supreme Court of the United States in Kelo v. City of New London.

Two other properties that prevailed against eminent domain eventually did sell: Sabatini’s restaurant received $2.1 million and a pawnshop sold for $1.6 million. Their lots became part of a large lawn flanking a taxi stand for Trump’s casino.[1][6] Coking remained in her house until 2010, when she moved to a retirement home in the San Francisco Bay Area near her grandson, Ed Casey.[citation needed]

Casey subsequently tried to sell the house, putting it on the market in 2011 with an initial asking price of $5 million.[1][7] By September 2013 the price had reduced to $1 million,[8] but it still did not sell as Atlantic City continued to suffer the lingering effects of the financial crisis of 2007–08 and over-building during the boom that preceded it.[citation needed]

The property was finally sold for $530,000 in an auction on July 31, 2014.[9] Neither the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority nor the owners of Trump Plaza expressed any interest in the auction.[1] The buyer was Carl Icahn, who held the debt on Trump Entertainment, owner of Trump Plaza. He subsequently demolished the house.[10]

The adjacent Trump Plaza Hotel and Casino, the property for which Trump wanted Coking’s property to begin with, closed on September 16, 2014 due to lack of business.[citation needed]

Donald Trump loves insulting conservatives.

http://twitchy.com/2013/03/22/you-were-born-stupid-trump-goes-after-michelle-malkin-gets-throttled/

Trump is a blustering man-child who merely plays a conservative on TV, trying to play us for chumps.

The ad depicts a bulldozer flattening the house...

If you look carefully, the moving image of the bulldozer is overlaid on a still photo of the house. Notice the relative scales of the bulldozer vs. the house. All the bulldozer is moving are some piles of dirt.

Another way the ad is dishonest.

You have an eye for detail. I just think it’s a mistake for Cruz to A, lie, and B, play the class warfare card against Trump. Even if there were short term gain in it—which is far from clear—it is disastrous in the long term. You can’t be the conservative candidate of integrity on the basis of lying and invoking class warfare.

True enough. I was confusing the two cases. But Trump likely would have beat Coking had the Kelo decision been in place. And no doubt that is why he likes Kelo so much. Kelo is viewed by conservative constitutional scholarship as on the same level as Dred Scot. It attacks property rights at a fundamental level. Trump apparently does not get it.

Peace,

SR
