To appeal to the people Pubbies (as you put it) don’t normally appeal to, you have to be outside of the box, in your speech, your manner, your ideas...everything. You have to be hip.
Trump is hip. He’s not hip to the establishment. He’s not hip to the Glen Becks. These people want a candidate whom they control.
Trump is more like the democrats of old than the republicans of now.
I do, in time, see more and more of the old guard coming around and accepting him. As Krauthammer says, once he gets a notable conservative on board, then another, and another it will be like stream.
It’s amazing that he hasn’t budged off his message. A message that has pretty consistent when comes to our national defense and our economy. He has evolves more to the right on social issues, and that’s good.
There’s much a Glenn Beck can learn from Trump. Trump’s brother, an alcoholic. You’d think Beck would have some affinity for Trump, instead of the malice.
Trump can “mentor” this country. He’s already started with the media.

Good post and I agree.
When you talked about the old guard coming around - Bob Doyle just did recently and Trump praised Bob and his wife, Elizabeth, in a recent speech.
IMHO the Gang of 22 and the lobbyists and others are scared to death of Trump because they’ll lose influence and most important to them big dollars. Kraut and a few others have started to come around (e.g., not so negative to him as they were previously). I think some more will in time and some will continue to bash.
I agree about Beck - I’ve basically been ignoring him; and, while I thought about watching Cruz’ speech the other day, I just couldn’t handle listening to/watching Beck any more.
I agree that Trump is hip, but IMHO I think it’s more than that - he doesn’t talk down to the people or lecture them or sound like a politician - he’s speaking WITH us and seems to be HEARING and understanding and feeling our anger and frustrations, which none of the others are doing (though some on Bernie’s side seem to think he is doing so - can’t say, haven’t really listened to him, though I think perhaps that the people (including a lot of college kids)
